Beautiful and functional office collection I wasn't in the market for new office furniture but when I saw the Appleton Library in the store, I stopped in my tracks...it was just stunning! I was extremely pleased with the ease of assembly as well as the quality and sturdiness of the library unit. Thus, I went back and bought the U desk, hutch and lateral file. I could not be happier with my purchases. Note: I bought everything on sale and also used Office Max coupons so the final price paid for each piece was very reasonable. While assembly is time consuming for each piece, it's not too difficult. I have zero handyman skills but I was able to assemble everything by myself. The only time I needed help was to flip the U desk over and move it. Re Sauder's customer service, there was a defective part in 2 of the 4 packages I purchased. However, Sauder immediately sent replacement parts free of charge with no questions asked. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality and beauty of this collection and I highly recommend it for home office use. March 27, 2013
Appleton Dont know if it was the installer or the quality of the piece itself, but very poor construction - draweers don't shut, bubbles in top material on desk (might have been the nails the installer hammered from below) Very unhappy! March 25, 2013
pretty but not functional Backing of the library bookshelves is paper thin. Shelves can't be used for books or notebooks. If backing were damaged it would ruin the whole thing. February 27, 2012
Too expensive for quality We bought this library thinking to put books, but I don't recommended for that purpose. You can put some books but it is not strong enough for all books. Assembly is complicated and it came with several scratches. It took 4 hrs. (two guys working on it) to put together. We bought other pieces of this collection, a l- shape desk and file cabinets. File cabinet looks much better than bookshelves. Two hundred bucks for this piece is too high. December 11, 2011
