      Rated 3.3 out of 5by 32 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5by garbage I've had this drive for almost 2 years and it's been fine up until today. I have been using this for my Xbox One to store all my games and saves. Today it stopped being recognized. I have it plugged into a laptop right now and it shows in devices & printers menu, but I can't access it. All of my files are on it and I can't get to them. This was a terrible purchase. I should have gone with Seagate or something. September 8, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5by save your money We bought this device to store video and photos. It worked perfectly for about 6 months and then one day we plugged it in to the computer and it wasn't recognizable, nothing came up at all. Tired various devices (another laptop, Xbox360, PS3) still nothing. The light turns on, the disk spins but it doesn't play or show up at all. Save your money and troubles. We lost all our files using this device. August 12, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5by Worst. Interface. Ever. I have been struggling with this drive since I purchased it, around a week ago. I don't know how good it will work storing files since I have not been able to store anything for long as the interface is a failure in every aspect: -It shifts languages (from Spanish to Portuguese). -It doesn't store the amount of data it was supposed to do (my data was 390 Gb, the software indicated 500 Gb and it finally stored <200Gb). -The software always indicates the wrong amount of data and is not congruent with itself (in one window it says something and in the next it indicates an amount 5 times larger). -It starts copying files when it was not supposed to do it, and does not stop when the cancel order is given. -Sometimes it writes information faster than others (up to 8 times) for the same files. -There is no password protection. So the only possible way to use it is by storing files manually as the software is so incredibly defective. So, no scheduled copying of selected folders. No restoring points. No automatic backup of everyday's work. Neither encryption nor data protection. Those inconveniences makes this product the worst in its price range. August 12, 2015

This is a consumer USB based hard drive that supports multiple format and draws its power from the USB ports. while it is designed to work while connected to an always-on PC, it's more like a personal/private cloud device as opposed to a part of your network infrastructure.

Depending on what your are doing with the Server OS, there may be solutions that are better for an industrial use scenario than any retail-packaged portable hard drive.

Secure your backups with password protection. Schedule automatic backups3. Or, store on the Cloud1 for total assurance, and for your convenience, we've included 10GB free Cloud storage for storing you most important “always accessible” files4.
      • Expanded Access, Sharing and Mobility

Just plug it in and the Canvio® Connect turns any PC2into a great storage, sharing and backup solution. Now, no matter where you are you can upload and download photos, music, movies and even the largest of files from any PC, smartphone or tablet over the Internet. Plus, the Canvio® Connect is compact and easy to bring along.
      • Simplified Set-Up

You might think a device this versatile would be hard to use. But, no. Just plug it in and it’s ready to go—for PCs or Macs®. And because the NTFS drivers for Mac are included you can store and access your files on your PC and Mac without reformatting the drive. It’s USB 3.0- and USB 2.0-compatible, for speed and convenience. It also comes with its own pre-loaded backup-and-share application; so there’s no need to buy extra hardware or software.
      • Smart Storage

Today’s Ultrabooks™ and mobile devices can often benefit from external storage. And everyone should have a backup solution. The Canvio® Connect steps right in, offering up to an incredible two terabytes (2TB) of capacity to hold a ton of your important documents, digital memories and entertainment—all in one convenient place.
      • Assurance Times Two

Like all Toshiba products, the Canvio® Connect portable hard drive is designed from the ground up with your needs in mind, then tested again and again for reliability. You can count on it to perform as advertised—every time. That’s why it comes with a solid two-year limited warranty.

      • 1 One Gigabyte (1GB) means 109 = 1,000,000,000 bytes and One Terabyte (1TB) means 1012 = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes using powers of 10. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1GB= 230 = 1,073,741,824 bytes and 1TB = 240 = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes, and therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary based on file size, formatting, settings, software and operating system and other factors.
2 The preloaded NTI Backup Now EZ software is compatible with Windows® OS only.
3 Free 30-day trial of cloud backup included.
4 Reformatting to HFS+ required for use with Time Machine® software.
5 Includes free downloadable copy of Pogoplug® PC with 10GB of free cloud storage. Internet connection required for remote access
