So far so good, excellent product. It works just as advertised, my own personal "Cloud". September 15, 2014
WD Personal Cloud I have never had a device perform so poorly. It takes forever to do things, a simple delete user takes over 10 minutes. When using it as DHCP it constantly looses the IP and i have to re-install the software to find it once again. I've decided to put it on the shelf. Bad purchase decision. July 18, 2014
WD My Cloud Problems I've had my WD My Cloud for a few months. I had an old PC with two external hard drives containing media plugged into it. Folders on the hard drive were shared out and visible on three WDTV Boxes attached to three large screen TV's. I have a 1GB wired network. Everything worked fine but I wanted to retire that old PC. The My Cloud looked like the perfect solution. Instead of copying the media files to the My Cloud I purchased a USB 3.0 hub and attached the two external hard drives to it and plugged it into the My Cloud. I had some problems when doing media scans for the DLNA The box hung up a few times. It had to be powered down (unplugged# to recycle. All the scans completed and things seemed to work fine as a media server. On the WDTV boxes I just choose media servers instead of Windows shares. Then I noticed the new files did not sort properly. To get it to sort file names properly I detach and reattach the drive so it could do a new scan. Then I noticed the DLNA server #TWONKY) did not pick up external subtitles. Well I turned off the DLNA server, went back to just sharing out the folders and everything is working fine. All the problems I had were TWONKY related. Maybe WD can get the bugs out of it in the future. This is not a plug and play box. I consider my computer knowledge to be above normal and it still took some time to get everything working. Product OK - Service Is "Oh Well" The product does have potential. However, it is not that secured. I would buy encryption software and encrypt everything I place in here (important stuff). For some reason, all PDF, Microsoft documents copied itself 3 to 4 times. Thank God I do encrypt. Trying to setup the unit via customer support was not the greatest experience. Rude, non-interested tech support people. If they don't find an answer quickly, you start to get the "oh, I'm sorry. You have just been disconnected.".. just a figure of speech. The guy didn't even attempt to call back. Had to do everything myself or lose a day's pay. March 15, 2014
