      Rated 4 out of 5by 314 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5by Printer good, CARTRIDGES BAD!!! I liked the printer itself, as it was easy to use and prints quickly with high-quality images. What I DIDN'T like about it is that the black cartridges, HP 564 (both standard and XL), after a short period of time - as in ONE YEAR of owning the printer - began LEAKING INSIDE THE PRINTER. According to research I've done, this printer is designed to clean DIRTY printheads, but CANNOT CLEAR CLOGGED heads. And it also is designed where you cannot REMOVE the cradle to manually clean the heads, at least not without BREAKING something! This is the SECOND printer I've had that used the 564 cartridges, and BOTH had the SAME THING HAPPEN. The first time it happened, I just thought it was that printer, but now I know it's a design flaw in both the printers AND these cartridges. I will NEVER buy another HP printer that uses the 564 cartridges. August 17, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5by satisfactory purchase All functions are OK but photo quality is lacking. Faster than I expected. June 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5by Great Printer This printer is awesome. It does everything I need it to do. February 5, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5by Good, basic all in one I've owned prevous versions of this all-in-one and have generally been pretty happy with them. The addition of the paper tray access door is nice (so you no longer have to pull out the entire paper tray to fill). Set-up via wireless is super easy and fast. A good printer for the money. Answer:
You can use a USB cable to connect this HP printer. This HP Printer has a total of four cartridges, one each of black, cyan magenta, and yellow.

HP does not support refilling or remanufacturing ink cartridges. HP does not manufacture refillable ink cartridges. HP ink cartridges should not be refilled. Refilled ink cartridges can leak in the printer requiring service that will not be covered under warranty. In addition, the print quality will suffer with refilled ink cartridges because the nozzles become clogged with this additional use. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I think you wanted a single color cartridge. I think they are moving away from this. It has indicators, so you only buy the ink color you use.

Once you install the software and printer is working. Go to the ICON on your desktop for the printer and click on it. It opens a window. Then select SCAN A DOCUMENT. This opens a window and this is where you can apply the settings - as a JPEG, TIFF, PDF, etc. You can also set the DPI for the scan in this section.
