Sauder Graham Ridge Computer Desk With Hutch, 47 1/10H x 59 1/16W x 23 1/2D, European Oak
Love the Look
I love the look of my Sauder Graham Ridge Desk. I bought it for our office. It looks expensive especially with the faux granite desk area but was so reasonably priced that we are looking at purchasing another one.

Nice product, pain to assemble
I saw this desk set up at the store, and though it looked really nice, especially for the price. Since it looked like there were a lot of pieces, I debated having the store come out and put it together. However, after learning it would be, at minimum, a $60 charge, I decided that I have built things before and I could build this as well.
And I did build it. But it took me almost 5.5 hours to do so. I honestly don?t know how people say they did it in two hours. I thought the instructions were pretty clear (as compared to some instructions for build-it-yourself items), so it wasn?t confusion that made the assembly take so long? but it just took forever to get this together.
Few thing worth mentioning. First, if you are an average female, or not the strongest person, and you are trying to assemble this alone, you may have problems at two points. I?m a female in my late 20?s, reasonably good shape, I moved all the furniture into my house with just me and a friend. Point is, I?m not a weakling. That said? this desk weighs more than I do. And the instructions require that you flip the desk over at one point, and then later, stand it up. I found these two instructions to be super difficult, as it?s hard to easily move around something so big and heavy, especially if you are not super strong.
Also, some pieces didn?t quite want to go together, so I had to go find a rubber mallet to get those into place. I also found it somewhat difficult to level the drawers and door ? I have done those type of builds before, but for someone who has not, the hinges and tracks are not even slightly self-explanitory and can take forever to get right if you?re not sure what you?re doing (making the assembly take even longer). Also, the holes on the faux granite desktop do not pass all the way through. They are started on the ?rough? side, but do not continue through the faux granite side. The customer has to drill them. This wasn?t really difficult, but it felt like that should have already been done. Last thing is that the instructions referred to ?Part Q? for example? and some parts were labeled? but not all. Had they all been labeled, I do think that would have sped up assembly.
All that said ? I love the desk! It looks great. I think it looks more expensive than it is. It?s heavy, which I like, because my other desk was so light it moved around on the wood floor if you so much as tapped it. There?s a large workspace. I love that the top is laminate and I won?t have to go buy a desk protector. One very nice thing was that the slides for the top drawer are actually labeled. There?s different letter combos on each one, which is great because on my previous desk, I accidentally put those on backwards, because it wasn?t clear. But here, it?s crystal clear which one is which and they tell you right on the instructions, for this side, use CA or whatever.
I would recommend this desk to someone ? but just be aware, certain parts of the assembly require a good amount of physical strength, and it will take you forever to put it together, so maybe bribe a friend to help. But I love it.

nice desk but...
The package was so heavy itself.
So many parts, screws, holes, took us more than six hours to fix.
It looks nice with marble table top.
Never try to assemble yourself.
This is way too much work.

Beautiful & Awesome
This desk was easy to put together. A family friend (Dexter) and I put it together in 2.5 hours. The directions are good - only 1 instructional step related to part GG (Extension slides) removal from the Extension Rails (part FF) was confusing but we finally figured it out. I absolutely love it and am working from it as I type this review. It is a beautiful piece with lots of space on top to hold my monitor, laptop, and printer. Every time I look at it, I say "Awesome!."
