Amazing little device I purchased mine on May 2, 2014 and find its very responsive, easy to use and the speed is quite good. The WiFi works fairly well but appears slow when updating but its not a deal breaker. Its quite heavy for its size but its the size & SSD attracted me to it verses the Asus T100 64GB Version. The 64GB SSD is a bit tight to work with so before you start using it I recommend you get a Storage Card and install it in the screen then install your software and documents there to keep the SSD as clean as possible. I do not require all that much storage capacity because I own a Windows Server and I can make a VPN connection to it so I have ample room to store files there rather then directly on the device itself. I also have an external hard drive I can use for file storage. The point here is keep it clean and it will work well for you. I would also recommend you make a backup of the recovery partition and you are only allowed to make 1 copy. If you also own a server running WHS2011 or WS2012 you can backup the Pavilion X2 to it daily and can feel comfortable with deleting the recovery partition to provide you with another 11-12 GB of usable capacity on the SSD. I have upgraded my device to Win8.1 Pro and have installed the full Office 2013 Pro Plus on it. My sole use for this is more on the business side and media streaming as I am not into the Games but I would not expect this to play games all that well. I also discovered that the full VLC program plays much better then the VLC App when streaming movies on this device so if the small apps do not work well for you go with the larger full program if available. For my Asian friends I am sorry to say that using QQ on just the screen does not work all that well you will need the keyboard connected to fully enjoy it. Basically this thing does everything I expect it to do. Oh there is a 128GB SSD available for it but to maintain the warranty you would most likely have to send it to HP but when the warranty is over I am just going to crack it open and install it myself. You can download the Service Manual for it from HP. May 9, 2014
One small problem My 64 gigabyte machine arrived with only 25 g of free space and then microsoft downloaded something and I only had 17 g of free space the second day. I had to turn off automatic updates. The ad says I can store thousands of pictures and music but that's not true. I haven't even loaded Office yet. I don't know how much space that takes up. A little disappointed about that. Otherwise I like the computer. I like the detachable tablet and the touchcreen and I even like windows 8.1. But get a bigger hard drive. May 3, 2014
Great blend I am an apple guy, with i phone/ipad. However i also actually work, so windows is critical for me to have/use. I have had pc's for the better part of the past 15 years, and wanted to stay with windows 7... 8.1 looked a little funky... i opted for this blend laptop/tablet and could not be HAPPIER! after working with 8.1 it is actually as easy to use as apple and still has the windows architecture.. battery life is good, screen is awesome, speed is good and no issues! The sound (beats) is good but not a huge selling point... keep in mind its only been 3 days... but so far all is good...I would HIGHLY recommend this over any ipad or standard laptop. March 24, 2014
Second Time Around is Better Had to return after one day due to audio not working even after spending over an hour with HP Customer Support. Office Depot made the return simple and painless. The new unit has worked flawlessly thus far. Windows 8.1 upgrade is painless and makes the unit easier to use after a bit of a learning curve. The keyboard is sufficient for heavy use and the tablet portion is great. I just hate that there is no case for the tablet available. The sound is great when watching movies. The touch screen is responsive. The lack of Microsoft Office included is a downer, but Open Office works just fine for me and it's free. No issues so far and I would recommend this product. Excellent value for the price. I would have given this product 5 stars if HP support was more helpful instead of following a script for support and truly exhibited product knowledge.
