Realspace Crosswick Bookcase, 60H x 30W x 14D, Espresso 4 5 2 2
Well Designed Bought this bookcase because it matches the desk and because it fit the available space perfectly. It's attractive and sturdy. Each glass shelf has a lengthwise metal support, so books probably wouldn't bend them. But I don't intend to load them down with a lot of books anyway. Even so, I did attach the safety strap, just put it below the top shelf instead of at the top of the bookcase. With glass shelves, a tip-over could be tragic. Hints for assembly (which is fast and easy, even for this short granny): Leave bolts, screws and cam locks slightly loose until all pieces are together and the shelves in place. Then tighten using not only the recommended Phillips-bit screwdriver, but also a hex-bit screwdriver instead of the included Allen wrench. See photo with my desk review. September 2, 2014
glass shelves are too large for the frame It looked nice in the store, but after purchasing one and trying to assemble it at home, then things start getting ugly: The shelves (made of glass) were simply too large for the metal frame. I ended up using a carjack to open a few millimeters the frame (and damaging the metal) to insert the shelf... I should have returned it, but after all this trouble, it looks nice in my home office (if you ignore the scratches/bending in the metal frame...). October 28, 2013
