Rated 3 out of 5by Barrie Will Use As A Back-up
I purchased this for one of our trainers at work. He has been using it for about 3 months and the little "pegs" that click into the back cover started bending and make it hard to close and it's just getting worse. He has asked me to order him a Logitech one.

I purchased the Targus model because it was a few dollars cheaper and was not happy with the quality. It is difficult to open the back to get to the USB and hard to get the back in place. It was not clear how to turn it off since it was not in the directions or did nto show that it was turned off. I have used the Logitech R400 2.4GHz Wireless Presenter and it is much easier to use.

Rated 4 out of 5by The Doctor AMP13US new 2014 version -001G likely fixes bugs
I needed a new laser pointer and decided to splurge on one that could advance slides. I liked the PC/Mac switch idea. It works fine on Powerpoint for Mac 2011 on my 17" MacBook Pro, MacOS 10.6.8. Ignore the initial wizard that tries to set up the USB transceiver as a keyboard.
I saw all the hate comments here and was kinda shocked. For one thing, it described a unit with a spare battery compartment and mine doesn't have that. I went to Targus' website and their photos don't show my unit. The exterior is the same, but inside the battery cover looks different. The main model number is the same, AMP13US. The online manual, however, is dated 2012, and on the back cover is a number ending in -001F. My paper manual is dated 2014, and the number ends in -001G. Moreover, the Mac specs now say 10.6.8 and up, whereas old the -001F manual says 10.4-10.8.
So, Targus has clearly updated the AMP13US unit from the model everyone had complaints about for the last 2 years. I don't have other systems to test my unit on, but I imagine that all the old bugs have been addressed. Too bad Targus has not updated their website yet.
For those wanting a multimedia remote, Targus sells AMP09US, in the same format as the AMP13US unit; the specs say this has mouse cursor controls and playback buttons; this is about $75.
