Works very well. Will be a great addition to my daughter's classroom.

I purchased this paper cutter to make tags for merchandise for my business. I could only cut one piece of card stock at a time. The blade bends the edge of the paper when you cut it. And it doesn't make a clean, sharp cut. Each page had to be trimmed and cut multiple times just to get 6 tags. When cutting paper that's 11 inches long, while holding it in place, the bottom half of the page doesn't cut, just bends. Since I had better luck with my teeny tiny trimmer, I returned this one and bought a larger Fiskar trimmer. It works perfectly. This Swingline Classicut Pro is not a product I would recommend, even for small tasks.

I looked at a number of medium sized trimmers and selected the Swingline because it looked stronger for thicker stacks of paper. I have had limited use thus far but am very pleased with the introductory cuts it makes. I cut paper as well as laminated plastic sheets and it seems to work fine on both.

Rated 2 out of 5by Wayfinder Good cutter-- bad production
The quality and durability of the unit is good. Reasonably heavy materials, good cutting action.
However two flaws, one major, one just short-sighted:
1) The inch scale painted on the cross-piece is not correct. It's a full 1/8" off from the cutting edge. This ruined an entire stack of paper until I realized what was wrong. I'm printing and taping my own inch scale over the painted scale. That's just shoddy production.
2) This is just a personal peeve... but the left edge of the base is curved rather than straight. This makes it very difficult to store the unit out of the way sitting on its side. There's no use I can see for the curved edge (aside from aesthetics). I plan on taking a saw to it at earliest opportunity... as I set the unit by a cabinet on its side when not in use. Ideally the back end would be straight across so the handle could be stored pointing up.
I give it 2 stars based on their poor measuring line. That cost me. If anything... the measuring scale on a cutting board should be ACCURATE. I can't give it 3 stars (average) because every other cutting board I've seen has an accurate cutting scale.
