D-Link DAP-1320 Wireless N300 Range Extender 3.1 5 51 51
This Product Does Not Work As Described Notwithstanding the fairly simple set-up, this product does not actually extend the wireless range. If I leave my blackberry on the kitchen countertop approximately 8 to 10 feet from where the Dlink range extender is plugged in, I consistently get a message on my blackberry telling me the wireless connection is very limited. In addition, my iphone and ipad keep cutting in and out of the WiFi connection to Dlink. When I moved this product outside to the backyard to try and listen to wireless speakers and streaming music, the music kept cutting in and out because the WiFi was not working consistently outside despite the range extender being out there! What a waste of money! July 7, 2014
Don't buy Before I get [insert random tech support personnel here] telling me to install the latest firmware, it was the first thing I did, and checked often to make sure I was up to date. The unit itself is small, lightweight and portable. The firmware page is relatively easy to access, and offers an easy to use interface. It has a WPS button to make it easy for the not-so-knowledgeable to get up and running quickly. BUT, as with nearly every single D-Link product, they don't test how firmwares and chipsets operate over the course of 6 months or a year in regular homes. Expect to have to fiddle with it monthly, move plugs, or reset and start from scratch. After a year (just past the warranty, of course), the unit is completely dead. For the price, it's not worth it at all. June 22, 2014
ONE WORKS GREAT! We have and older router DIR-635 and both Dap's were working fine, but we decided to install a the newer DIR 810L. To make the DAPs work we were told to reset both of them! We were able to reset one DAP, but the other one just doesn't work! Now we are back to the old DIR-635 which seems to work better with this product! The DAP will not accept any password either! Hope I can somehow fix the connectivity issues fast! June 12, 2014
Perfect design, works great, BUT... This is the best choice for a place with a single wireless signal source, for example: just one WiFi router. Perfect design, works great, BUT if you plan to use it in a place with roaming WiFi (more than one wireless signal source with the same wireless field ID), I don't recommended it to you because: 1. It won't let you choose which access point signal you want to amplify 2. It just let you choose which SSID you want to amplify. Since in roaming, all sources use the same SSID, you won't be able to specify which signal to "grab". 3. This would lead that the DAP-1320 will be switching between the different APs with the same SSID (the principle of roaming). You can still get more WiFi range, but it won't be continuous: there will be some times that for 5-10 seconds, signal strengh will drop due to the AP switching in the DAP-1320. March 11, 2014

Answer:
You would need to ensure that the device meet local wireless regulations. It would also be suggested that you purchase it in Japan, as taking it from the US to Japan could void the warranty.

Excellent signal coverage. Easy setup. Small size for easy placement.

Extended Excellence.

"The DAP-1320 is one of the best wireless networking devices I've tested from D-Link, and among all of the extenders I've tested, it provided the best coverage. I was also impressed with how well it worked with another vendor's equipment. I'm confident that this little device, which did an impressive job of extending my test Wi-Fi network deployed in a high-rise office building with hundreds of access points all around, will work extremely well for the average home user."

"D-Link Wireless Range Extender gets a 4.5 out of 5 star rating, and is PCMag's Editors' Choice for wireless range extenders."

Why D-Link Wireless N Is Better

This Wireless N Range Extender uses Wireless N technology with multiple intelligent antennas to maximize the speed and range of your wireless signal to significantly outperform previous-generation Wireless G devices. The antennas make use of your home’s environment by bouncing multiple wireless signals off walls and ceilings to work around obstructions and help eliminate dead spots.
