Good desk, but.... This is a very solid and versatile desk. It is HEAVY, so make sure you have help when you assemble it. The desk can be used free-standing or attached to a matching Bush piece. I used it freestanding as an addition to another desk I own. The top is laminate and shows fingerprints easily, but is easy to clean. Assembling the desk wasn't difficult but the base is particleboard, and therein lies the problem. Like many desks made of this material, it uses a screw/locking mechanism to latch to the other pieces. One side went together just fine, but the other broke when we were trying to right it and it was downhill after that because once particleboard disintegrates, you are not getting it back together. I ended up having to screw it together in multiple places. Frankly that was a much more secure way of securing the pieces than the mechanisms they provide but the result wasn't pretty. Thankfully I could hide that part where people don't see it. When finally assembled and upright, it is sturdy despite the materials it is made from. July 4, 2009
