A generation where we will never be satisfied Excuse my title, but I understand we live in a day and age where we are becoming lazier, less patient, and spoiled due to technology. I have a Lenovo refurbished T440P with an i5-4300M vPro 8GB 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GeFORCE GT730M 1GB, 1920x1080 IPS display. Talk about spoiled! This computer is a tank first of all...This is built as strong and fantastic as the T430's. The hinges look, feel, perform like they are bullet proof. The IPS display is stunning. The issues people have with the computer not waking up, or the screen not coming back on is an extremely easy fix. I can only speak of the 440P, but fingerprints are almost not an issue at all with this new material on the outside (rubbery) and the fantastic gritty texture of the entire palm/main area. I'm extremely picky about fingerprints. Track pad problems? Try to adapt and overcome. It will help you out in life a lot. If you actually learn how to correctly use it, it works great. Good performance; poor interface When I used to think of Thinkpad I thought of business, performance, and precision. But after this model, I am changing my mind. No complaints about the performance. Its speed, screen, other capabilities are very good. My gripe is the precision, feel, and overall user experience. As many have mentioned, the touchpad is terrible. One of the things I love about my last Thinkpad was the precision of the 3-button system with the trackpoint. That is completely lost with the single touchpad. Sometimes when I want to left-click I center click and the other way around. Very annoying. The springy sensation of the touchpad is also bad. I think they were going for an MacBook feel, but really missed the mark. When the computer is closed, I've also noticed a weakpoint in the middle of the computer in-between the two hinges. When you grab the computer at this point there is a lot of give and it doesn't feel solid. I hate to say that this doesn't have the feel of a business computer anymore. August 18, 2014
i feel sorry for thinkpad I had good experience all the TP. This machine is suppose to be the best in performance than earlier gen machine. I will list pro and cons of this particular machine Machine configuration detail. Processor: Intel Core i5 4200 2.50GHz(didn't impressed me ) Ram :4:00 HDD 500 7200prm Pro Good battery life Light Weight Better Display Thank God they didn't remove Track point Cons Better they added "function lock" 4th gen processor was it for name sake? keyboard:My advise to Lenovo please brink back traditional TP Key broad pattern. And some time when we press some keys ,it seem to be coming out. Touch Pad :Why lenovo why? Look:is it just me or .... any way doesn't look like a pro. Durability: i m afraid to test that. Led indicator :why did u took it away . I had run the boot time test against T430(i5 3210 2.50GHz) to compare result was shocking... T440p delayed 58 seconds than T430. 4gen suppose to be faster. Lenovo has messed up the TP with this model(440p) I am asking "why lenovo why?" August 12, 2014
What were they thinking? I've been a loyal thinkpad user over the past 15 years (purchased 7 thinkpads). This is the first time I've been utterly frustrated with a thinkpad. By far my favorite aspect of thinkpads have been the trackpoint, so that I wouldn't have to move my hand away from the keys to use the mouse. While the latest version still has the trackpoint, they removed the physical buttons! It's simply not as reliable. I've been using this new buttonless version daily for the past few months, but I still cannot get used to it. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but it's just frustrating to have to worry about whether I can get the left and right mouse click correct. Maybe it works fine for others, but it simply doesn't work well for me. August 5, 2014
