Rated 4.7 out of 5by 25 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5by Replacing non-working APC I have used the APC battery back-ups for many years. It protects my computer equipment from power surges and spikes. If a surge hits the APC protects your open files from being lost and safely shuts down my computer, printer and internet jet pack. We lived in Florida (the lightning capital) for 30 years and I used the available version of the APC on my computers and printers. I had a lightening hit in Florida; contacted the company-they sent a new APC replacement. June 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5by APC Replacement Great choice for a replacement for an old APC UPS. June 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5by Buy new, better than replacing battery Bought 3 units for Computers, Fax, Printer, Modem/Router and our big screen TV. Been using for years and they last a good 5-6 yrs on one battery. Just be advised that when attached to a laser printer/fax...the APC will click when activated. This is normal, no need to be concerned. Very sensitive monitoring slight surges in your power grid. June 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5by Best back-up for the money I now own two of these . Last year I purchased my first and now I purchased a second. They hold up well . The batteries are very good and the internal componets of the back up are of high quality. Great engineering and final inspection. June 1, 2015

Answer:
Our Power Chute Personal Edition software for this unit is only compatible with Windows and the non-pure sine wave of the BN600G is not optimal for a Mac. Even though Mac's do have their own native shutdown software, a unit from our Smart Ups line will work best with a Mac.

Though I do not own a MAC computer, it will work fine. I know that your computer does not use over the 330 watt rating of this product.

I have a cable modem, with telephone service with battery backup for up to 6 hours. I would like to plug my modem and router into a UPS to extend the battery life of the modem, and be able to have power to the modem and router all the time, even when the UPS is turned off.. Can I do that with the BN600G?

Answer:
Most battery back up units charge on 120 VAC current from a utility provider, which is a pure sine wave alternating current. When the battery backup swith especially to it's battery mode in the event of power failure, it runs the battery, which is DC, through an inverter and creates a modified sine wave alternating current or an approximated sine wave. You would have to check you moden battery unit to see if it would have any issues charging or maintaining the charge on it's internal battery using a modified sin wave current. An alternative solution may be to see if there is a modem with a larger battery backup, or you couldon't buy a second battery and connect it in a parallel battery configuration. Doing that should effectively double the amp hours, but may void the warrenty. Hope this helps.

Answer:
Thank you for your recent inquiry. The surge only outlets will provide power whether the unit is turned on or off. If there is a power failure, the surge only outlets will no longer provide power and the battery protected outlets have a limited amount of runtime available. It will run for about 8 minutes with a 200 watt load attached.

Answer:
The battery is easily replaceable, and it can be done by doing some Web searching, or if you don't feel comfortable doing it on your own, the tech support is very friendly and can easily walk you through the process over the phone. Also the replacement batteries are around $45 a piece give or take depending on the VA rating of your unit. I've owned eight of these units, and in my experience the battery life depends on usage. If you frequently lose power you might see 3 to 4 years before a replacement battery is needed, or if you hardly ever lose power you might see that the battery lasts the life of the unit which is about 7 to 8 years depending on the usage.

You can leave it plugged in. Check the wattage use of your recliner, if it is below the 600VA(voltamps)/330 watt rating of the APC backup, it should work.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. Our UPS units were designed for use with standard IT equipment (computers, networking devices etc). Although it is possible the UPS may support the power recliner, it has never been tested with this type of application. The BN600G can only support up to 330 watts, so we would need to know the maximum power requirements for the recliner before making a recommendation. You may leave one of our UPS units plugged in at all times.

Answer:
Hello Jerry,

The answer is that battery runtime during an outage directly depends on the amount of watts being drawn by the attached equipment. For example, if your computer and monitor draw 200 watts (an average PC/monitor setup), you would get about 8 minutes of runtime to gracefully shutdown. If your setup draws more than that, the runtime will go down. If you desire more that 5-10 minutes, I would suggest looking at a larger size UPS to fit your needs.

I am using the APC BN600G to power a corn stove between the time the power goes out and when the power generator kicks in (about 30 seconds). Unit is rated to handle the stove fine but when I unplug the APC unit from the wall the stove goes into shutdown mode. Evidentially I need a unit that is always on, that is the unit always runs off the battery with no switch needed when the power goes out.
