Rated 4.6 out of 5by 254 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5by Continuing Quality We use up one who set of black and color cartridges per week. Recently, Office Depot has cooperated by offering good discounts for a package such as this. We find that the product is a quality product and have no complaints. We have never had an ink flow problem or clogged print heads with thousands of pages printed per month. March 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5by Great addition great service We have purchased our ink through Office Depot because we purchased the copier. The rewards program is great, and we have never had a problem with the printer or ink. Because of that we have purchased 3 additional printers and exclusively use Office Depot because they always have the cartages in stock no matter if I am buy 1 or 3. Their prices are fair and we don't have to order the set if we only need 1 color. March 25, 2015

If you want the colors to print correctly you have to replace the cartridges as they run out. Sometimes I am in a hurry and don't replace the one that is out but my copies might not have the right
colors either

Answer:
Yes, you can still print, however, some colors may appear somewhat faded. It usually takes black ink to print the colors . Just try and see what happens. That's what I usually do., and sometimes, you can just keep on printing without replacing the empty cartridge.

If it's a color cartridge, you can choose to print in black ink only on most of the newer HP printers. If you run out of black, printer won't print. I always keep ink on hand because this happens when in an important job.

Answer:
Yes! Just leave the old dried up cartridge in the printer. The printer should ask you if you want to print with color vs. black. If your printer does not offer this suggestion, then go to the settings and make appropriate adjustments to print with other colors vs. ink that is dried out.

HP950 should last for a duty cycle of 1000 pages and the HP950XL should last for 2500 pages. Of course there is a price difference too (ha ha). If you do not use your printer that often, I would recommend using the HP950 because once the package is open the ink starts its life environmental life cycle and could dry up before utilizing its ink duty cycle.

Nope. never happened to me. Actually, when I bought it the Rep told me that the 'trial' cartridges that the printer had in will last almost nothing, it was not true. I was impressed of how long these lasted. So I would challenge the rep feedback.
the printer comes with the black cartridge and the color cartridge set, once one cartridge is 'too low' the printer simply stops until you replace it, it is not like it will make the other cartridges to work and be combined somehow to create a black output. Doesn't work that way.

Answer:
Yes, the rep is correct in saying all HP printers will use color to make black. But the black is not as black or as saturated at the black produced by combining magenta, yellow and cyan. The black produced by a color cartridge is like gray. That is the reason a black cartridge is needed to produce a deep black.

If the yellow runs out usually your HP Printer will tell you this and suggest that you hit the Black Indicator on your Printer to continue to print in Black. As for myself I have an Office Jet Pro/Ink Jet Printer 8600 which I like very much and was told by an Office Depot Sales Clerk that an Office Jet Printer would cost me less for printer cartridges than a laser jet printer. I love the print quality. I used to have a laser jet black printer but prefer my Office Jet Color Printer.

Answer:
In the "Properties", then "advanced" section of your printing preferences you can change your printing to gray scale, and if you usually print only black gray scale can be your default. In my experience, the color does eventually run out even if you are doing this but this takes much longer. Once the color ink cartridges have run out, the printer will usually ask you if you only want to print in black. This tone of black is not as clear a tone however, and be prepared for your black ink to run out more quickly than usual. Eventually it will stop allowing you to print.
