I am returning this sharpener. The suction does not work well. I run a daycare and preschool and need a good sharpener. This product does not even do a good job of sharpening pencils and keeps breaking them. For the cost this sharpener is very disappointing.

If you paid money for the electrics come back to earth, a little work out with turning the blade helps you keep an even cutting speed, and you don't have to worry about loosing 75% of your pencil to a electric hungry pencil fester. Sometimes the old way is the best way ! Easy to clean and most of all you control it!

Rated 1 out of 5?by rcso NOT Made in USA
I bought this specifically because I wanted a good quality pencil sharpener that was MADE IN USA! I thought that the price I paid would have ensured that! The description says Made in USA right? WRONG! The box it came in says Made in China! The tin compartment that the pencil shavings fall into also says Made in China! I couldn't find one single mark indicating that it was Made in the USA. Really disappointed in whichever company messed that up, and for the Boston Company for not supporting our USA economy! The only up side here - Office Depot did refund my money and sent UPS to pick it back up - not at my expense. At least they understood and were polite about it.

I prefer a manual sharpener, and can not use a permanent screw-in type at my rental. I was a bit uncertain about the vacuum mount. In fact, this mounts very well to any smooth surface I have tried it on. It is a temporary mount: you need to "re-vacuum" each time you use it, which makes it easily portable.
I have not had it long enough to know if it stays sharp in the long run. I have Boston sharpeners from the years before Exacto company bought them, and they have always been long lasting and good quality. So far this one is working quite well.
