Beats? by Dr. Dre Solo? HD High Definition On-Ear Headphones With ControlTalk?, Black
Perhaps the most overrated headphones ever
Dr. Dre Beats has been excellent marketed, distributed, and sold in modern tech that it can be credited for sprouting the recent "audiophile" trend that has been occurring in many tech-shops. Prior to their introduction, headphones that favored DJs, Sound Engineers and producers weren't a high-demand niche market.
However, don't let the hype fool you into thinking you've got a piece of work. Although well-constructed and ascetically pleasing, the (most important function) tonal quality and natural EQ of the headset falls flat in comparison to other headphones of the same, even cheaper, price. You're only paying for the over-marketed brand.
The natural EQ configured in the headphones favors hip-hop music (Dr.Dre -- Hello?) so the low-end, bass gain is extremely high, and with not enough of a clear mid-end, the bass muddens most of the non-hip hop tracks I've tried it on. Avoid if you enjoy rock or metal.
As a producer of EDM genres such as dubstep, and metal genres such as Deathmetal, I feel like these headphones do not satisfy what I desire as a consumer - however, it may be your cup of tea.
If you like bad tea, and a bunch of incoherent bass.
