Still Going Strong After 1 Year
I needed some boxes to keep a book collection in. I needed clear, so that I could see the contents and find a book on demand. But I also needed the boxes to be sturdy, so that they didn't collapse under the weight, and so that I could transport them occasionally. I was specifically planning to take one box with my entire collection to a convention so I could get the books signed.
What I ended up doing was picking a Really Useful 32L clear box for transport to the convention, and a 64L clear box for day-to-day storage during the rest of the year. I was just able to squeeze all my books into the smaller box and then load that up onto a two-wheeler, but the books were too crammed in there for me to be able to find any particular book, most of the time. The 64L box is big enough that I have plenty enough room to spread all my books out and see the spines on them easily, which makes it easy to find and pull a certain book. So the 32L works for efficient transport, and the 64L for daily display and rapid acquisition.
The locking lids have protected my books from spilled drinks a couple of times, now. I own several first editions. That's good, cheap insurance!
And my two boxes have been banged around and kicked countless times. 32L and 64L are both pretty big! But they still look brand new.
I work for Office Depot, and I'll echo an earlier reviewer's comments: a lot of of the boxes come from the factory and warehouse already damaged. Freight crews have to pull a lot of damaged boxes out of the shipping cartons and prevent them from ever making it to the sales floor. It's hard to imagine what could've inflicted that kind of damage on this sturdy of a product. They look like acute forklift impacts or something. (My boxes hold nearly a hundred pounds worth of books with nary a problem, and the handles have been opened and closed dozens of times without loosening up.) So it really is best to pick these up and check them out in person at a physical store location, rather than having a carton of them delivered. It's unfortunate, buy you really do need to get an employee to personally weed out the damaged items, for you.
Also, virtually all of OD's plastic storage boxes give off some sort of chemical fumes while in shipment. When the shipping carton's are first opened in a store, these concentrated fumes are quite smelly. The smell dissipates immediately, but it should be noted. Don't inhale!

Wonderful Boxes
I needed to archive files and these boxes are heavy plastic, sturdy and great for hanging files. A lot of storage with very little effort.
I really liked the fact that I could see how many were available at the store where I picked them up when I ordered online which saves time.

Thought they were good...Before this
I had previously ordered 6 of these boxes some 32L some 17L, I liked the fact that they were supposedly strong. Unfortunately, when I ordered more on-line - of the ones I got dropped off at my doorstep - one was scratched (which I could live with), but another had a missing piece of plastic/ cracked top corner and it's side under that was cracked vertically. So even though the Really Useful Box pictures a car on top of their boxes - their boxes cannot withstand the warehouse handling on them. More ironic - when the replacement came the next day, after I signed for it -then I was cleaning off the dirty box when I turned it over - the bottom corner piece was missing off - the side needed to balance on the stack below it. The black box might be stronger then the clear one, but I would not order these on-line anymore without first looking at them. I am re-thinking not to purchase any more after getting 2 that broke so easy.
