Realspace? PRO Quantum 9000 Series Ergonomic Mesh Mid-Back Chair, Black 4.3 5 287 287
TopNotch all day chair I've had mine for about 3 years and have found it to be a really good all day chair. The armrest adjustability help keep my hands and elbows in good positions to avoid ergonomics issues with my wrist and upper arm. Recently I purchased 4 more to outfit the other people in my office. Would buy again, I hope they keep this chair in the line up for a long time so that as I grow my company I can keep the same chairs. December 15, 2014
It's junk I wanted and needed to love this chair due to back problems but it's junk! The back slides up and down and it doesn't lock into place. That alone is a deal breaker. It slides back down constantly and I only tested it for five minutes. Secondly, it doesn't rise high enough. I'm 5'9 and would like it another inch or two higher. A tall man..forget it. I don't see this chair holding up either. After an annoying assembly, I have to take it apart to return. Save yourself the hassle. November 30, 2014
Expensive but worth it Priciest task chair I have ever purchased but it was on an expense account, and the benefit is well worth it. Techy looking and was not sure the mesh would hold up (ie stretch, tear), but it has impressed me after only 3 months. It is used 24/7 by myself and then various security guards of various sizes. Best feature of this chair is the length adjustable thigh support to suit various size people. Unbelievable - no staff complaints. Also like the breathable mesh, smooth rolling wheels, sturdiness and the slightly higher seat height range. I don't have a con yet for the desk application it is used, so i plan to replace my home office chair too. November 28, 2014
No replacement Parts I called OD and asked how I could get a replacement hydraulic cylinder for my chair - it slowly sinks every time I sit in it. They said they don't carry them. I will look elsewhere for a replacement chair. I object to giving OD my business if they don't support what they sell. November 27, 2014

Answer:?
Yes, it absoutely can. I just removed the arms with a little allen wrench. I left the little rubber caps on it so as to not knock my shins on the metal holders which sit just outside the seat of the chair. Just use the screws that would normally hold the arm piece onto the brace that comes from the main assembly under the seat of the chair. This makes a good product into a great product!!

yes you can assemble the chair without the arms. But you may not have too. The arms adjust up and down so they will clear your desk. Also they adjust in towards your body for easier typing

Answer:?
Thank you for your question!
The RealspacePRO Quantum/9000 chair is designed and manufactured to support body weight up to 250 pounds.

To help gauge fit based on your height, we recommend visiting a store and sitting in the chair. Take a few minutes to work the adjustment features also (especially chair height, seat back height & angle, lumbar support, and chair arm height & width). That way you can best determine if the adjustability ranges fit your body.

Best wishes!

The back adjust very easily. Bring it all the way up to release it. Then you can move it down all the way and slowly click it into any spot that you need. To start over raise it all the way and bring it all the way down again.

I noticed while testing this chair in the store several months ago that when I sat down or got up from the chair, just brushing against the back of it with my back impacted the ratcheted height. Did you ever install a knob to lock the back position in place or is there a way to adjust the ratchet system so it's not so sensitive? Having to constantly readjust the back height would be a bothersome.

On my chair you have to pull the back up all the way in order to lower it back down to the lowest position. Then pull up slightly (it will click at each stop) to the position where you want it. I've have my chair for, gosh, at least 5 years now and never had any problems with the back falling down. I love this chair - most comfortable ever -and I've had back surgery!

Answer:?
I just bought this chair and am having the same problem. When I move around or get up, the back moves up, which unlocks it, and then it falls down to the lowest position. I am constantly having to raise it back up.

I am tall (6' 2") so I like the back in the highest position--the 5th click up. Which is another problem: I can't simply slide the back all the way up to adjust it, because all the way up is the release position and it slides back down. Instead, I have to carefully count 1-2-3-4-5 clicks to get it to the 5th position. This wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to do this every time I got up and sat back down.

Hopefully there's a trick--or the manufacturer can come up with a better way to lock the back in place.

Thanks for your question.
The chair back typically stays firmly in place while seated.

One idea is that you may need a bigger or more heavy duty chair.

The Quantum chair supports body weight up to 250 pounds.
If you weigh more, you will be more comfortable and supported in a big & tall chair.

Answer:?
Your height is fine. The seat will slide back and forward to accomodate your height. And of course it'll raise and lower.
I'm 6'1", 200# and the chair fits me just about perfectly. It's got a tag that says it's only good up to 250#. I think you'd find it too thin across and the fact it's just a mesh seat, not firm with foam would probably be a problem for weights over 250#.

If you raise the back up slowly, stopping every time you hit it click (lock in position), it will stay at that height. I think there are only five clicks (or positions) til you get to the top. If you go too high, once released the back will return to the lowest position.

Tilt adjustment?

Can I adjust the back tilt and seat tilt independently? Also, are both infinitely adjustable or are there only a few fixed tilts?
I tried one in the store (without any directions) and it seemed that both tilted at the same time, so I couldn't tilt the back without tilting the seat, etc. Also, I could only get it to lock in a few positions--level, and tilted back.

Thank you for the quick answer. I bought the chair but I can't get the back tilt to infinitely adjust. When I loosen the Tilt Lockout handle, the back does tilt to any position. But when I lock it, it snaps in one of only three positions. Am I doing something wrong or is that the way it is designed?

Answer:?
I just bought this chair so I can now answer my own question, for the benefit of anyone interested:
Unfortunately, the back and seat do not tilt independently. The "synchro tilt" feature means the seat tilts back a little as the back tilts back. Worse, there are only 3 positions: back near vertical, back slightly tilted back, and back tilted way back. (With seat tilting at the same time). If one of the first two positions fits you, it's great. But if you need a slightly different position for the best ergonomic fit, you are out of luck.

The back and seat do not tilt independently but it is a true infinity lock, that allows you to lock in the position of choice and amount of tilt for the seat.

Unofficially, I'd say they're not going to be good on most carpets. If you're using the chair on a nice tight berber or indoor/outdoor type carpet it may be OK. But, the wheels are fairly small diameter, not really for carpets. I have a chair mat at work and when I leave the mat to roll across the aisle on the carpet, it's not too difficult yet noticeably different.
