About This Product
Description
Mesh fabric and gel-padded armrests let you work in comfort
- Mesh breathes to keep you cool and looks good, too.
- Height-/width-adjustable armrests with unique gel padding helps relieve shoulder strain.
- Seat cushion glides forward or backward to best suit the length of your legs.
- Change the tilt with the touch of a finger! Synchro tilt reclines the backrest at a 2:1 ratio to the seat, increasing the angle between your torso and thighs for a comfortable, ergonomic sitting position. Adjustable tilt angle moves both the seat and backrest at the same ratio, letting you rock or recline in comfort. You can also adjust the angle of the back cushion and the seat.
- Effortless 1-touch seat-height adjustment.
- Adjustable lumbar cushioning helps support your lower back and enhance the natural curve of your spine.
- Waterfall seat cushion slopes slightly downward to help reduce stress on your legs.
- Steel frame construction ensures durability.
- Recommended for intensive use 6-8 hours per day.
- Easy assembly instructions included.
- GREENGUARD® Certified for healthier indoor air quality. Manufactured with reduced harsh chemicals and with processes that are 'low VOC' (low in Volatile Organic Compounds).
- Greener choice — contains a minimum of 55% total recycled content.

Realspace Mesh Mid-Back Task Chair
The box delivered the mesh chair somewhat unassembled, however, in just a few mintues I successfully produced a chair. And I have to admit at first I was suspect of a chair without obvious padding. Thankfully, I was wrong the mesh chair was quite easy to assemble and wonderful to sit in all day long. Love it and intend to buy several more.

Looks good, questionable quality
I've had this chair a couple of weeks. It feels fairly comfortable for about 6 hrs, then starts feeling too hard. The worst thing is the arms. Both of the arms are extremely wobbly and move in 3 positions both up and down and side to side. They won't stay in place. And one of them already has an annoying squeak when just resting my elbow on it with very little pressure.
This is an Office Depot store brand chair.
The controls on the chair use a steel cable system which works well and it's highly adjustable. The squeak is impossible to get around when listening to it all day.

Great chair!
This is probably the best chair I've ever bought!

Pricey but good quality
It started with one in the office, now we have bought 5. Good quality but still expensive. I bought a similar chair for $150 less now everyone wants that one because the arms go up and the quality is just as good. For almost 1/2 the price

yes you can assemble the chair without the arms. But you may not have too. The arms adjust up and down so they will clear your desk. Also they adjust in towards your body for easier typingGender:Female

Answer:
Thank you for your question! The RealspacePRO Quantum/9000 chair is designed and manufactured to support body weight up to 250 pounds.
To help gauge fit based on your height, we recommend visiting a store and sitting in the chair. Take a few minutes to work the adjustment features also (especially chair height, seat back height & angle, lumbar support, and chair arm height & width). That way you can best determine if the adjustability ranges fit your body.
Best wishes!

According to the CPSC website, the Quantum Realspace PRO? 9000 Series Mid-Back Multifunction Mesh Chair, SKU # 510830 was recalled because the bolts attaching the seatback on the chair can loosen and detach, posing a fall and injury hazard to consumers.
I'm wondering if this is the same chair, or if they have fixed the design flaw?
Thanks!

Answer:
While this is the same chair and model, the flaw has been repaired and only applied to chairs manufactured from May 2006 through August 2009. You can check your chair's date of manufacture by looking at the label under the seat cushion near the front on the label showing manufacture date, manufacturer's model ID and says QUANTUM. If the date falls into the recall range, contact Office Depot customer service.Age:55 to 64

Thank you for your question.Yes. The manufacturer, in cooperation with Office Depot, initiated a voluntary recall in October of 2009. As a result, the chair was enhanced. Presently, the Quantum Realspace PRO? 9000 Series Mid-Back Multifunction Mesh Chair, Item 510830, sold by Office Depot is the manufacturer's new design.
Best wishes.

On page #12 are instructions for the tilt tension. Turning the knob has no effect on the tilt mechanism. It is locked in position.

The tension spring is an extremely strong spring. While I have had no problems adjusting the tension, I would recommend you try to loosen the tension with at least 5 or 6 turns (a turn being the amount you can move the knob with one hand and one effort, not necessarily a full revolution). You should not be sitting with any force being applied to the seat back while making the adjustments. Do this 2 or 3 times or until you notice some easing of the tilt function. I hope this helps and when adding more tension, be prepared to use a lot of strength to turn the knob.Gender:Male

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The chair back offers an ergnomically supportive contour for lumbar support. The chair back is height adjustable.
You can pull the chair back height up or lower it, via a rachet system to get the built-in lumbar support into the exact perfect position for you.
There is no extra device (built in) that would deepen the lumbar support or change it's amount of pressure.
Nonetheless, by adjusting the seat depth and the chair back height, you can achieve a very back-hugging fit with this chair. We recommend visiting a store to give it a try. Our customers report that this is a very comfortable and supportive chair.

I noticed while testing this chair in the store several months ago that when I sat down or got up from the chair, just brushing against the back of it with my back impacted the ratcheted height. Did you ever install a knob to lock the back position in place or is there a way to adjust the ratchet system so it's not so sensitive? Having to constantly readjust the back height would be a bothersome.

Thanks for your question. The chair back typically stays firmly in place while seated.
One idea is that you may need a bigger or more heavy duty chair.
The Quantum chair supports body weight up to 250 pounds.
If you weigh more, you will be more comfortable and supported in a big & tall chair.

Your height is fine. The seat will slide back and forward to accomodate your height. And of course it'll raise and lower.I'm 6'1", 200# and the chair fits me just about perfectly. It's got a tag that says it's only good up to 250#. I think you'd find it too thin across and the fact it's just a mesh seat, not firm with foam would probably be a problem for weights over 250#.

There are a few upholstered options in our Thomasvile Style@work offer.
If you like Mesh, you might like one of these....
Item # 271230
Item # 399940
