      Rated 5 out of 5�by Good enough to buy twice I bought my first of these chairs almost 10 years ago for my home office. 10 or 12 hours a day was not unusual and it was as comfortable as the much more expensive Aeron I used to sit in at a corporate office. I did have to replace the two bolts holding the back on after the chair dumped me onto the floor from a backwards lean at about 5 years, but otherwise the chair performed flawlessly until the lift cylinder blew a seal a couple of weeks ago. I immediately bought another one without hesitation. This chair now uses 4 bolts to hold the back on, which fixes my only complaint. The chair is quite adjustable, extremely comfortable (except when wearing shorts), and is obviously durable. I now work in an actual office and when I had my choice of chairs, I picked the same one for there as well. May 23, 2016

      Rated 5 out of 5�by Chair holds up well We have only ever had to replace one of these chairs, but have ordered over 100 for our offices. It's comfortable and like that the arms move and it has good ergonomic functionality. The back support is not bad, but I especially like the mesh seat and back. We keep ordering these chairs and have not had any problems. The installation is super easy too. May 9, 2016
      Rated 1 out of 5�by Uncomfortable and Defective I really wanted to like and keep this chair. But it was returned on the 3rd day after purchase. The mesh seat cushion put undue pressure on both of my hips causing severe hip pain. And no matter how I adjusted the chair I had severe lower back pain after only 5 hrs in this chair. And to make matters worse the gas cylinder that keeps the height adjustment of the chair failed. Every time I got up off the chair it would pop up about 6 inches. Then went I sat back down it would collapse down lower than where I had it initially set. I am a 5'7" 160lb male so I'm not big. This chair felt comfortable in the store. I sat on it about 30 minutes in the store. But once home and using it for a few hours it became the most uncomfortable chair I have ever used. I gave 1 star due to the fantastic return policy of Office Depot. I honestly wouldn't give this chair to my worst enemy. April 26, 2016

      Yes, it absoutely can. I just removed the arms with a little allen wrench. I left the little rubber caps on it so as to not knock my shins on the metal holders which sit just outside the seat of the chair. Just use the screws that would normally hold the arm piece onto the brace that comes from the main assembly under the seat of the chair. This makes a good product into a great product!!

      yes you can assemble the chair without the arms. But you may not have too. The arms adjust up and down so they will clear your desk. Also they adjust in towards your body for easier typing

      To help gauge fit based on your height, we recommend visiting a store and sitting in the chair.       The back adjust very easily. Bring it all the way up to release it. Then you can move it down all the way and slowly click it into any spot that you need. To start over raise it all the way and bring it all the way down again.

      I noticed while testing this chair in the store several months ago that when I sat down or got up from the chair, just brushing against the back of it with my back impacted the ratcheted height. Did you ever install a knob to lock the back position in place or is there a way to adjust the ratchet system so it's not so sensitive? Having to constantly readjust the back height would be a bothersome.

      On my chair you have to pull the back up all the way in order to lower it back down to the lowest position. Then pull up slightly (it will click at each stop) to the position where you want it. I've have my chair for, gosh, at least 5 years now and never had any problems with the back falling down. I love this chair - most comfortable ever -and I've had back surgery!

      I just bought this chair and am having the same problem. When I move around or get up, the back moves up, which unlocks it, and then it falls down to the lowest position. I am constantly having to raise it back up.

      I am tall (6' 2") so I like the back in the highest position--the 5th click up. Which is another problem: I can't simply slide the back all the way up to adjust it, because all the way up is the release position and it slides back down. Instead, I have to carefully count 1-2-3-4-5 clicks to get it to the 5th position. This wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to do this every time I got up and sat back down.

      Hopefully there's a trick--or the manufacturer can come up with a better way to lock the back in place.

      The chair back typically stays firmly in place while seated.

      One idea is that you may need a bigger or more heavy duty chair.

      Your height is fine. The seat will slide back and forward to accomodate your height. And of course it'll raise and lower.
      I'm 6'1", 200# and the chair fits me just about perfectly. It's got a tag that says it's only good up to 250#. I think you'd find it too thin across and the fact it's just a mesh seat, not firm with foam would probably be a problem for weights over 250#.

      If you raise the back up slowly, stopping every time you hit it click (lock in position), it will stay at that height. I think there are only five clicks (or positions) til you get to the top. If you go too high, once released the back will return to the lowest position.

      Tilt adjustment?

      Can I adjust the back tilt and seat tilt independently? Also, are both infinitely adjustable or are there only a few fixed tilts?
      I tried one in the store (without any directions) and it seemed that both tilted at the same time, so I couldn't tilt the back without tilting the seat, etc. Also, I could only get it to lock in a few positions--level, and tilted back.

But when I lock it, it snaps in one of only three positions. Am I doing something wrong or is that the way it is designed?

      I just bought this chair so I can now answer my own question, for the benefit of anyone interested:
      Unfortunately, the back and seat do not tilt independently. The "synchro tilt" feature means the seat tilts back a little as the back tilts back. Worse, there are only 3 positions: back near vertical, back slightly tilted back, and back tilted way back. (With seat tilting at the same time). If one of the first two positions fits you, it's great. But if you need a slightly different position for the best ergonomic fit, you are out of luck.

      The back and seat do not tilt independently but it is a true infinity lock, that allows you to lock in the position of choice and amount of tilt for the seat.

      Hey, I measured the seat height on the side of the chair, at the highest point of the plastic frame that surrounds the seat mesh.

      Low: 17-11/16"
      High: 21-3/16"

      They roll fine on my short carpet. Requires more force than on a hard floor of course but it's not a problem for me.

      These will move on carpets. Make sure that the carpet is less than 1/2 in. thick.

      Unofficially, I'd say they're not going to be good on most carpets. If you're using the chair on a nice tight berber or indoor/outdoor type carpet it may be OK. But, the wheels are fairly small diameter, not really for carpets. I have a chair mat at work and when I leave the mat to roll across the aisle on the carpet, it's not too difficult yet noticeably different.
