Immediate battery charging failure
A brand new unit does not charge the battery. In fact, from the approximate 25% in-factory charge, the battery drained to 0% within 12 hours while being connected to 126V as reported by the unit's display. After using numerous units in the last two decades, I expected equally great performance from APC products. However, after reading similar stories on Amazon, I decided to post my experience here as well. APC we know you can do better than this!

Buyer Beware - No Laser Printers Allowed.
Received this product on a Tuesday and set it up on a workstation at my hotel for emergency backup. Since our laser printer draws a lot of power, I had it plugged into the surge only side of the UPS.
I came into the hotel on Wednesday and find that we've declined in battery charge from 40 minutes to 5 minutes left without any sort of power outage. A call to APC support and it turns out that this unit cannot support a laser printer - even if that printer is only connected to the surge protection side. Nowhere can I find this information, which is fairly critical information, on either the OfficeDepot product detail, the the APC product page or the APC official product manual.
Now I have, in essence, a very elaborate looking paperweight to accompany my workstation.
Exceptionally poor documentation all around.

Bought 2 to upgrade older APC XS1000's
I am a long time user of APC Battery Backup UPS devices. I purchase 2 of these to replace older XS1000's which will be repurposed after I change out the batteries. Some reviews indicated the battery discharging which turned on which I experienced but I removed the battery and reseated the battery to make certain the battery was fully seated. When the unit was disconnected with the battery removed I also pressed and held in the power button for 5 seconds. I then plugged the units in and let them charge for 24 hours. Typically you need to fully charge batteries before using the units but this piece of information was not included in the unit documentation which implies these are plug and play which they may very well be. I now have the units both running and am happy with their performance and picked up a 5 extra minutes of run time. I do run PowerChute Personal Edition on my Win 7 Client and the Home Server Addition of PowerChute on my Windows Home Server 2011 and on another Windows Home Server v1. The older units I have will be repurposed to protect other devices in my home.
