Rated 2 out of 5by 1 reviewer.
Rated 2 out of 5by Good concept; poor execution First, the pros: This item is HEAVY and has a beautifully designed case in two-tone finish. The unit does not look cheap, and it's not your standard sticker-on-particle board garbage. This is designed well. Even the hinge for the lid is heavy duty brass. Now the cons: The bottom of the unit is tacked on with 4 brads. It holds it on well, but nobody checked to ensure all 4 brads were recessed. I know I didn't. First time I scooted this across my brand new desk, one of those nails gouged my finish. Unfortunately, my new desk IS the sticker-on-particle board. It's irrepairable, and it took me 8 hours to assemble. Boxes tossed. I'm stuck. Second, that beautiful hinge? It has places for 6 screws. Somebody managed to put in 4 of them then just quit. Now, I'm handy. I'm a girl, but I know which end of the hammer to use on my stuff. I tacked the brad back into the bottom, and I took one of the screws from the top of the lid and used it on the bottom. Lid now stays put, but I still am missing 2 screws. Overall, it's a nice setup. But for $90, which is about what I paid for an entire file cabinet, somebody should have been checking the details. January 8, 2015
