Brother� DR-420 Drum Unit 2.8 5 8 8

Drum unit lasted over a year As another reviewer stated, as long as print quality is good you don't necessarily need to change the drum unit. This has been the case for our Brother HL2270DW printer. The printer needs a drum unit AND a toner cartridge to function. Our Drum indicator light on the printer has been amber for many months (not green) and we still get good quality printing for all of our business documents. We finally changed the drum unit after over a year! We change toner cartridges every 2-3 months as needed. We even wait on that until several times of shaking the toner/drum unit and by sliding the green tab back and forth several times to get the toner light to temporarily go out. When we do change the toner, we write the date changed with a sharpie on the label so we know how long it lasts. March 7, 2013

great product Easy to install, works perfectly. February 25, 2013

Happy BUT..... Our office has 3 of these printers and while they work good and overall we are happy with them I feel the drum unit should work longer then it does. The printer cost just a few $$$ more then the drum but we have had to purchase numerous drum units. January 7, 2013

Drum unit for MFC Just a short review for clarification. The below 4 reviewers really should know their equipment prior to reviewing products. This is the drum unit only as shown in the description. A separate toner cartridge is required as is shown in the description. You need both drum and toner for your machine to function. You should not need to swap out the drum unit every time the toner is low just the toner cartridge. This only needs done if the print quality becomes bad. The drum unit lasts a long time if maintained properly. I have found the unit to work great. November 2, 2012
