Rated 5 out of 5by Does the job Easy to set up. LCD display and Power Chute software provide good information. Plenty of capacity and battery power. Easy to change the battery. July 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5by Excellant capacity and easy to use Walked into store and picked it up. Easy to install July 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5by Great purchase Good quality, easy to install February 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5by Actually does it job After weeks of misery, I learned that Apple's Mac mini Server would not run reliably when powered through my TrendNet UPS. (Other battery backups have problems as well.) I switched to this APC unit, and the power problems went away. It's good to know that APC can do the job. You other battery backup manufacturers: are you listening? Pro: I liked the method of battery connection, which involved just turning the battery over. August 2, 2014

Answer:
It does not give a number. There is a five bar indicator in the display. Each bar represents 20% of the power used. So two bars on this UPS would indicate power usage between 130 and 260 watts. However, power use can fluctuate (such as having a printer attached - low draw at idle, but more power when printing). The Power Chute software monitors the power usage (USB connection to the computer) and provides more information.

Answer:
The battery run time depends on the load that your computer and peripherals draw. The LCD display indicates the power usage and the estimated run time. At 20% load, it will run almost 2 hours (116 minutes). At a higher load, the time drops. Hope that helps.

With a new battery, perhaps 15-20 minutes depending on how much is drawing juice. The Powerchute software will tell you how good the battery is if you have had the unit a while. I have five of the units and just bought a new one.

Answer:
On a new unit, they should last the 3 years under warrenty and they are covered by APC durring that time. If you are conserned about the equipment insurance, then you should replace them every 3 years but I have units that are 12 years old and still working. i just use them for backups for lighting and other power failure needs that are not connected to expensive equipment. Always get a user replacable battery unit. if it says "Battery, Not User Replacable", then it will only last the length of the warrentee.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. The amount of runtime available depends on the size of the load attached to the UPS. The BN1080G is rated for 1080 VA or 650 watts. With a 325 watt load attached, for example, the UPS will provide approximately 13 minutes of runtime. At full load, it will only run for about 3 minutes.

This UPS does not require the use of software, however it is advantageous to do so. This UPS comes with a USB cable to attach to your computer, as well as a CD for our PowerChute Personal Edition software (there is also a free download for this software online) that can monitor and control your UPS via the data port. This connection allows you gracefully shut down your equipment in the event of a power outage while you are away from the computer.

Answer:
Hello, and thank you for your recent inquiry! Unfortunately, this unit does not typically stay on for hours.
Runtime on battery power, even when the unit is fully charged, depends entirely on how many total watts are being drawn by the attached equipment. At maximum equipment load capacity (650 watts), this unit will get 3 minutes of runtime. At 300 watts, it will provide 14.5 mins of battery power. You can get one hour of runtime if you are only drawing 100 watts.
If you need more time than that, we suggest purchasing a unit that is compatible with an external battery pack, to lengthen the runtime, like the BR1500G.

Answer:
The size of a UPS directly corresponds to how much battery back-up power you need to power your devices. Watts is the main measurement, along with the desired amount of runtime on battery during an outage to allow for a safe, graceful shutdown. For example, a typical computer setup (desktop & monitor only) may draw approximately 200W (average), thus allowing about 26 minutes of battery runtime for graceful shutdown. The more watts total being drawn by the total equipment, the lower the runtime. Maximum wattage = 650W, allowing 3 mins of runtime.
