Good Looking File Cabinet
If you purchased this file cabinet you probably are experienced in assembly of the Realspace product line. The assembly of this item has a lock mechanism included in the assembly, as always you must follow the directions closely. The directions for assembly of the drawers shows using the outer holes for the glider screws. I discovered using the second from the outer hole which fits the screw head perfectly allows the drawers to lined up with equal spacing when completed. I went back to the two drawer file cabinets I previously assembled to use the same screw hole on the gliders and the drawers lined up better. This four drawer cabinet replaced a four drawer metal cabinet and has no where near the same space for files. The drawers are made in such a manner that legal files can be placed in either direction, all my files are the letter size (Note: I rated this a Con). No matter which direction you place your files you have the same space. Since I do have letter files, I keep all the files to one side except for the file I am currently working with, this helps with locating the file when returning a document. Time will tell if this is a durable cabinet as well as the other Realspace office furniture I recently purchased from Office Depot.

OK value for the money
I bought this because it matches the desk I already own. I love the desk. I needed a letter size file cabinet that locks, I didn't want metal, and this does letter and legal. I was disappointed that for letter size files I had to load the files in the drawers across, side to side, instead of front to back. When I want a file I have to stand to the side of the cabinet after I open the drawer so I can read the files; this adversely affected the location of the filing cabinet. That was not what I wanted but after spending an hour assembling this cabinet, and drawers, etc. I was not about to return it. I know I could buy legal size files or the stand alone hardware that would allow me to load it front to back. I already have files from my old office and I'm not redoing all of them, nor am I spending more money. The whole deal was I bought it on sale at a good price. The lock is worthless as the drawers can be opened with a hard pull. I will have to rig another lock, bummer. I have to say...it looks pretty.

I am pleased with this cabinet. The finish is not as durable as I would have hoped, but it is the same as the two drawer cabinets purchased earlier.

Good value, Homeowner grade cabinet
This is nice looking cabinet in the expresso color. Assembly time will run 4-6 hours depending on how handy you are and careful you wish to be. My assembly instructions were all visual step by schematic diagrams no words. If you need to adjust drawer spacing put it together tight and gently individually tug each drawer up or down right or left when 1/2 open to improve the alignment. The drawer slides feel nice with rubber detents in the closed position. You get one extra of each hardware fastener as a spare. The tiny screws for the back cover need to be nailed with a hammer they are impossible to drive as screws all the other hardware worked as intended. If you are handy and like projects buy this cabinet, if you or your helper are not mechanically inclined look elsewhere for something pre-built.
