Not just for books!
Bought this for my daughter to use in a college apartment. She stacks her sweaters, t-shirts, etc in this, and it's way more efficient than any dresser. The top cubes, we pushed out the little cutout opening and fed in an extension cord on each side for things like alarm clock (ihome), phone charger, etc. It is a great use of vertical space for her, and we have baskets and photo boxes on top for added storage. She even has a few framed pictures in those top 2 cubes.
A few of the cubes she used the fabric bins for smaller items like socks and the like.
This was a great purchase for this use, and I highly recommend it for use other than just for books and office stuff. It looks nice and is very sturdy.

Simple sturdy design
Bought this as a gift for my daughter and now she has 2 of these lovely book cases. They were easy to put together and when built were very sturdy as apposed to the regular wide shelf bookcases. The cube design looks nice and is very functional for books and other decorative items. The faux cherry finish is smooth and keeps its look even with regular use.
Her plan is to get the sofa table in the same style to put between for her media center in her apartment. The pressed board makes this a heavy piece so falling over in regular use seems unlikely.

Great use of materials
This could be the most clever use of engineered wood product (particleboard) that I've seen in over 20 years. It uses a line of center supports that overcomes the sag that so many of these cheaper ideas have ignored. But where other uses of center supporting have forgotten to support that center all the way down, this design has a front and back fascia that tries to counteract the sag tendency (I glued in an extra piece of 1"x4" to help right under the middle of the bottom shelf). Plus, where Ikea and others would undercut the design by substituting cheaper materials like MDF wherever possible, this line sticks with particleboard (more of a known quantity). Great deal and not too much shipping scratching.
