Realspace Magellan 12-Cube Bookcase, 63 9/16H x 46 1/10W x 15 5/8D, Honey Maple
Better than expected quality for the price
I've put together many of this type product, and I was impressed by the overall quality of this bookcase. The picture directions are easy to follow. The system of organizing hardware for each step in its own numbered plastic bubble is ingenious and eliminates much sorting time. Unlike other reviewers, I had no problem with the plastic L brackets (maybe they have improved?). In fact, the worst problem I encountered was getting the cosmetic plastic cam covers to stay on. The bookcase is very heavy and does require an extra person to help flip it over once it is assembled; but the heaviness also makes it more stable. The cardboard backing was a disappointment, but it is to be expected at this price point.

I will start by saying you should buy a product that is all wood & not compressed whatever! There were so many pieces to assemble plus the shipping was $80.00. Definitely not a good value!

Surprising quality for the price
Not usually much of a product reviewer, but I felt compelled to offer my recommendation for these bookcases. The 12-cube version is downright massive, stout enough to park a car on. Assembly is somewhat time-consuming and you do need two people to maneuver the shelf into place, but on the plus side this bookcase is not going to fall apart under any conditions short of a strategic nuclear strike. I can't figure out why they're so inexpensive.
Like a couple of other reviewers we had to replace the plastic L-brackets with metal ones, but that's my only complaint and it's not worth taking away a star for it. Bottom line, I've spent 3x the price for much lower quality furniture.
