Cheap, but effective. For the price you cannot go wrong, BUT be ready to interpret some of the directions, have too many/few screws, and adjust some parts to close or slide correctly. Of every item in the set none of the drawers, hinged parts, or moving sliders worked completely well. Finished look is good. Function is good. Ergonomics are good. Veneer is very thin, so be careful not to bang or scratch with hard objects. No venting for the computer housing in the desk/credenza, so may want to consider adding some. Cable routing options are very limited - none from below into the cpu cuddy. Wood finish is quite nice, but the grain pattern reoccurs often. Invest in a hand held staple gun as trying to tack on the wood paper backing is impossible utilizing the tiny black nails. These are items you should be ready to live with at this price point. Being a particle board and glue product I would not use in a moist or high humidity environment. If moving it would relocate poorly and likely not hold up. December 15, 2013
Use your imagination! The overall quality of this credenza is actualy quite good for the price, however, the assembly instructions are lacking. Just use your imagination and it'll come together. October 7, 2013
Do not purchase this item... Desk poorly designed with weak materials. I was very enthusiastic when I purchased this as a second desk in my office. I am an engineer very comfortable with contruction and wood work. The first half of the construction went well, until I attempted to put together the hutch and the credenza. Basically the two main legs that hold up the hutch are made of very poor quality partical board. As soon as I inserted the screws the board split, the same thing occured on both sides. The board is simply not strong enough to "securely" hold the weight of the hutch. In addition the instructions were poorly thought out, they actually instruct you to build both pieces upside down, the top is very narrow (this is on the floor during assembly) so as you build the desk it has a tendency to fall over (ofcourse mine did). This is by far the worst piece of furniture I have bought. I will avoid buying anything from the Dawson company. In the end I had to run to the hardware store and purchase reinforcing brackets to secure the desk enough so it would hold together. February 23, 2011
