Nice desk Very nice heavy desk. Looks great. Took three hours to assemble. Be careful when setting upright..two person job. All the drawers fit nicely and operate smooth. I'm adding the hutch next. Study the instructions carefully and often for best success. September 8, 2014
Good value for price Very heavy desk. Several scratches on multiple pieces. September 2, 2014
Sturdy desk This desk is very sturdy but took my husband and I (both college graduates) several hours to put together. It is very heavy and required both of us to set it upright. September 1, 2014
LOVE IT! This desk is very heavy, built very well! There is lots of desk top space and drawer space. It is exactly what I was looking for! I love the look and how well it's built. It is not a small home office desk. It's about the size of desk you see in a principals office. It does take a lot of time to put together and many of the pieces were not marked which was VERY frustrating. If you are not very well versed at putting things together, you will denifintely either need to pay to have it put together or find someone that can. I would have never been able to do it myself........thank god for my fiance! You must have patience and time. It took approx. 6 hours to put together. As far as the desk being heavy, there is noway a woman would be able to even move the box it's delivered in. It takes 2 grown men to move it, unless your husband, boyfriend, fiance is superman or thinks he is - to which mine is :) and was able to lift it by himself but with difficutly. Obviously the desk is sturdy! Even after the desk is put together, it's very heavy and hard to move by yourself, even to just slide it across the floor, I could not do it by myself. I am by no means a weakling. It's nice to find a very well built desk for the price of this one and the great look! I was unsure of what the color would be exactly, it is a very dark brown almost black. I was really wanting a black desk, ordered this one and so glad I did. It mixes great with blacks or browns and obviously silver/nickel because of the hardware. You will not be disappointed in the look of this desk! August 4, 2014

Answer:
You would need to put the CPU under the desk or next to it and you could defenatley put the modem and and anything else you needed on top of the desk. this desk is huge. I have the matching hutch and I feel the picture is misleading because this desk is nearly 5ft long and 21 inches wide to give you an idea i am able at anytime to have my large printer (22in) laptop (18in) and text books open on my desk and thats with the hutch.

No you have to store the CPU either under the desk or to the side. Under the desk is better because the cables can be drawn to the proper holes

No the CPU cannot fit in any of the cabinets, the router and modem could if you not using WiFi, if you are you do not want a WiFi router that close to you. The instructions state to keep those around 25 feet from people. do to health risks.

The drawers on the Sauder Shoal Creek Executive Desk, 30 1/2"H x 65 1/8"W x 29 1/4"D were not designed to accommodate a CPU tower. The drop down keyboard drawer has a hole in the drawer back for cord access. The desk top has a grommet hole for cord management.

The middle drawer can be used for a keyboard or drawer. The front of the drawer lays down for a keyboard but does not have to so you can use it just as a drawer also.

I need to attach a monitor stand to the back of the desk and so it has to have an overhang. Is the top of the desk flat against the back or is there an overhang? If so, how deep is the overhang?
