Don't Let "Protective Coating" Fool You Before I purchased, I read a review regarding erase issues but thought I'd give it a try anyway. There was a sticker attached which said "remove protective coating", I could not find that there was a film coating so I decided mine must not have one.... Ran across same issue with erasing, then got bold and decided even if I damaged it, I would try to remove a layer.... Good thing I tried, there WAS a protective film (very difficult to find an edge and start peeling it away) but once removed, erasing became so easy! Love my new dry erase board it really keeps me on track! November 5, 2014
Good but... As a receptionist, I use it to write things to remember, notes for my relief receptionist, etc. instead of having a bunch of sticky notes all over my desk. The only thing I am very disappointed in is that you cannot erase the surface without first spraying on the dry erase cleaner. This becomes inconvenient because I have to remove the board from the partition each time I need to erase something. September 12, 2008

Answer:?
It comes with prongs made to go into a cubical wall. You apply them yourself, there are squares on the back of the board where they should go.

The review stated that in order to wipe it clean, the person had to use a cleaner first, it would not wipe without it. of course, the issue could be the the reviewer was using a permanent marker and not a dry-erase type. But I will give that person the benefit of the doubt and ask this question.

Answer:?
I did not need cleaner after I figured out the true issue.....
They probably did not remove the film covering the board. Believe it or not I am above average intellegence and very logical however eventhough there was a sticker stating to remove it, I could not tell that there was a film over the board until I too had eraser problems, then decided what the beep, there IS REALLY a film covering (which you can write on and it will erase, just not well).

BTW, you CAN erase permanent marker from a dry erase board. Simply use a Dry Erase marker to cover over where the Permanent marks are, LET IT DRY, then wipe it off.

Answer:?
You should not need a cleaner to erase the boards unless the marker has been left on the board for an excessive amount of time.
