Very Nice Very nice instructions. Very nice product. Very nice packaging. Takes a while to build, but worth it. Don't forget to look for Office Depot/Max online coupon codes. November 17, 2014
Nice desk looks bad on outside view This is an attractive desk from the view of the person sitting at the desk. However, on the outside, there are nail heads and an obvious perforation line on each cabinet panel. This is what others see from their side. The only way it would not show is if the desk was pushed up against a wall. November 3, 2014
Great value, easy to assemble The instructions are easy to follow, and 99% of the parts are clearly marked. The hardware illustration even describes the hardware (color, and size of the screw and quantity needed, for example). I laid out all of the hardware and grouped it by type which helped with the assembly. It took me about 5 hours to complete, but I took my time and was very patient when assembling this desk. It is very sturdy and will accommodate my needs for a desk at home, as I have started a new job working from home. The hardest part was getting the drawers and the panel door aligned to allow them to open easily. June 28, 2014
Good Basic Desk I have been shopping for a desk for a while. I wanted something that had warm style and not too office like. I was impressed with the look and function of this choice. Great price too. This desk does come COMPLETELY disassembled, which for me was a challenge. I took my time and followed the directions and diagrams (which were pretty good). I did make a few mistakes that I had to go back and correct....like putting on a drawer glide upside down...oops:( But after many hours I finally got it done and I am happy with my desk. I must say that I have decided to never attempt that detailed of an assembly again. But that is just me. Good luck to all. May 24, 2014

Answer:
Yes. The desk comes with two metal rods that can be placed in the drawer for hanging standard size files only (legal size files will NOT fit). The drawer is small so the files can only be placed sideways, not front to back like most filing cabinets.

I like to keep my day to day files in this desk drawer and any non-essential files in a regular filing cabinet elsewhere in my house.

Here's a pic I took today, 2/5/13. Yes, there are bars for folders. I put a folder in the drawer to demonstrate that the file drawer does not pull out all the way. You can move the bars to the front most holes (be sure to do this upon assembly - the back one can't be changed after it's assembled). The folders will still have to be angled slightly to put them into the drawer. Might be a pain if you have a full file drawer.

You will definitely need a truck or van to get this home. I have a Dodge Journey and with the second row seat folded up and pushed completely forward, it was still too long to allow me to close the hatch door on my vehicle. The box has to be well over 5 feet long, probably closer to 6 feet long.

Answer:
No. It has pre-positioned holes for the hinges and guide-rails for the cabinet and drawers, respectively. You would have to modify the desk with drill bits, which I doubt would compromise the structure, but don't take my word on that - think safety.

The keyboard trey is 14 1/2" in depth (front to back) and the width is 29 3/4 (side to side). There is a front piece that folds down that measures 3 1/4" tall (when upright. See photo).

When the tray is pulled out and the front piece is folded down, the entire tray measures 17 7/8.

This was also my main question & this answer was not here before I left for the store to look at this desk earlier today. If you flip down the front panel for the keyboard tray, it makes it 18" deep. It's a really nice size tray. Will easily accomodate both a keyboard & mouse. One thing to note, the file drawer (lower drawer) does not pull all the way out to allow the standard size hanging folder to just drop in. You have to angle the folder to get it in. Otherwise, this is a nice looking desk for a great price & I'll probably buy it. You can add a neat hutch on top as well for a little over a $100.
