And then I realized it was perfect! I needed a notebook that fit in a scrubs shirt pocket. The cover is sturdy enough to write in on the move and the rubber band keeps a tidy appearance. The pages are perforated in case you need to rip a page out...mine has 140 pages.

I was looking for a small mileage log that I purchase every year, and I came across this little notebook. It will replace my traditional mileage log, will have enough pages for several years' of mileage, and will also be handy when I need to write a note, as each page is perforated. Sharp look, too!

The best feature about the Black n' Red line of notebooks is the quality of paper they contain. Ink flows wonderfully onto the smooth white paper with no feathering or bleed-through from any of the pens I've tested on it (including the Pilot Varsity fountain pens). The spiral binding allows it to lie flat, though may be a problem for some lefties (I'm left handed and will sometimes use it back-to-front or upside down). The poly cover is strong and durable, and the elastic band is an invaluable asset. The first page in this notebook has a place on the front for you to record your personal information such as name, dates of use, and contact info if lost and found; a section to record a table of contents; and a section for important contact details. The the reverse side of this page is a bunch of useful information, including a world map with timezones, European paper/envelope size charts, US paper/envelope size charts, and a variety of conversion tables.
I typically have many types of notebooks lying around, from Moleskines and Rhodias to the cheap yellow legal pads, and as far as quality and value is concerned, the Black n' Red is the best for a general use notebook.
Tip: The poly cover is great for sticking and removing Post-It notes. I like to take some of the super-sticky Post-It notecards and keep five or six on the inside back cover. Then for each day, project, or whatever, I take one from the back, stick it to the front, and use the elastic band to secure it when closed.
