Great for tax files
I LOVE these file boxes. I have bought 5 so far. I use to keep my tax files in larger plastic tubs but they were too heavy to move around. These keep a couple of years worth of tax documents in each box and are easy to lift and move. Someone complained about the lids popping off. None of mine have done that so perhaps they just got a bad batch. I just bought another one this week.

Good value but lid can pop off when it's open
When the lid is open and if you happen to nudge the file box and the open lid bumps against something...the lid pops off. I bought 3 of these in different colors, blue top, maroon top, and black. All of the lids have popped off. The lid easily pops back into place. The mini storage lid on top has not popped open...yet. I've noticed it only takes the slightest touch to open the mini storage lid, so I wouldn't be surprised if it pops open.
They are stackable - there are notches in the lid to keep each stacked box in place. I find this to be important as I have several boxes and it's nice that I can stack them in the closet and they won't fall over.
I bought this same file box a few years ago and the lid never pops open, the main lid or the mini storage lid. But it wasn't stackable either, which I find to be a very nice feature in the new version.
The space inside the box allows for 8 inches of hanging file folders. There's 8 inches of space on the bottom, and 8.5 inches of space on the top. Having an extra 0.5 inches on top allows you to move the file folders a little bit when the box is full. I was originally going to organize my papers by just using hanging file folders, but I found that when I used many regular hanging file folders, I couldn't fit all my papers, because each hanging file folders is rather thick and takes up space. So I bought fewer file folders (but expandable sizes, (2) 3-inch and (1) 2-inch to equal 8 inches) and then used regular dividers to separate and organize my papers. I can fit almost twice as many papers in a box this way.
The latch is definately sturdy and won't pop open by accident. Same with the handle.
I bought this on an excellent sale, so it was definately worth it, as I bought several. Had I paid full price I would have probably bought one from a different vendor because of the lid popping off when it's open.

NEAT STORAGE BOX !
This is a great little storage box for the money. We use ours to keep all our tax receipts organized and in one place, and at tax time we just grab it and go to the accountant! Besides the handy compartments on top of the lid which are great for keeping paper clips and rubber bands nearby, It also has a slot to put a padlock if you want to lock important papers away. This box would be very useful for hobbies, sewing projects, kids school work, and many other things. The only negative thing about it is that It's not as heavy-duty as some I've seen, but the price is right!
