The lamp puts out enough light. However, I get a little hot after reading the paper. It is fine to use for a short period of time.

I was looking for a high intensity light for my desk; this does the job. I like that it has two levels of light. I also like that it sits high to shine light down on my workspace. I highly recommend this lamp.

Rated 3 out of 5by Flute Light quality versus heat emission
I was tempted into buying this product by the low price and handsome brushed nickel body design... despite having read the reviews warning about excessive heat emission.- I thought it worthwhile to accept more heat, while receiving the benefit of the more widely radiated brightness of a halogen lamp.
(LED desk lamps produce good white light but with a tiny focus area; and I cannot warm to their pinhead look or else fish tin-shaped lamp shade design.)
The present product comes with a 75W t-3 R7S base 3" [78mm] halogen bulb of very poor quality.- It's not overly hot, but has poor lumens and low color temperature (yellowish light) at full beam; and at low beam can only be used for low-level ambiance lighting.
I replaced the bulb with a high-quality 75W specimen (SATCO S3199, $ 1.95 online, with shipping still inside $ 5.00), probably not easy to get for a reasonable price in retail.- The lamp now produces excellent lighting (lumens 1050, color temp 2900K) at high beam; but heat emission is indeed uncomfortable, and you probably wouldn't want to use the high beam for more than perhaps one hour or so. The new bulb is OK on low beam (reasonable light at low heat) for less exacting jobs -- really quite good for computer work, for example -- and energy-saving at what is probably around 40W capacity.
It's the usual catch-22: LED has inadequate coverage in radius terms; halogen is too hot...
If I could find a more attractive and contemporary design option of a desk lamp using CFL bulbs, I would always go for that.
BTW: the lamp has a stop-screw mechanism to prevent it from falling forward.- It was defective on the item I first picked up, but works 100% on the replacement item. Be careful when first aligning the joints.

This product was obtained through my employer around a year ago. After several months the bulb burned out. I have called repeatly to obtain the product information for the bulb. I have been disconnected, given incorrect information, finally obtained the correct product number for the replacement bulb on my own through research and placed an order only to be notified bulbs were out of stock. Since I have been without a light for several months, I attempted to place an order for a new desk light online only to advised each product viewed wais out of stock, (I looked at 6 other choices). I will never do business with this company on a personal basis.
