HP Officejet 6600 Does exactly what I hoped it would! December 15, 2014
VERY NICE HP PRINTER FOR HOME OFFICE I had been wanting and needing to replace the older inkjet printer in my home office where I do most of my administrative paperwork, invoicing, emailing, etc. in conducting and managing my small home-based contracting business. The HP Officejet 6600 had all of the features that I was looking and the other on-line reviews I had read were highly favorable for this printer! The HP Brand and their reputation for manufacturing quality products at fair and reasonable products also weighed heavily into my decision to purchase this printer. As a bonus, it was featured with an on-line special price by Office Depot on Black Friday that made the final decision to buy this particular printer easier! December 15, 2014
After 10 months When new, it was a GREAT printer. Now I am having major scan, copy and fax problems. Every forum I get on says I'm screwed. It can't be repaired. I am getting no response at all from HP, even though it is still under warranty. It also won't print if any one of it's cartridges are empty. Expensive if you use any color at all. I'm thinking maybe Lexmark would have been a better choice. December 12, 2014

    Answer:?
The simplest answer is "yes". You connect the printer to a live telephone jack. Telephone connectors do look like Ethernet connectors, but they are narrower.

Sending is no problem. Just yell at everyone in your house that you need to have sole possession of the phone line for a while. How long that will be depends on how much you are sending. I have sent 50 pages and it took nearly an hour.

Receiving is a little more tricky unless you have a separate line for faxes or the service where there is a separate number which has a unique ring pattern. AT&T is the only telephone service that I am positive it offers this. When I had telephone service through the cable company, they did not offer this service. The fax set-up will let you tell the fax which ring pattern it should answer and how many rings before it answers. It has been handy for me to have this capability and it is one of the main reasons that I always have a multifunction printer. If you lack a separate line or a special ring pattern, you will have to just yell at everyone in your house not to touch the telephone. When you answer the incoming call, if you hear a "beep" that means you have a fax coming in and you need to hit the button on the printer that says "answer the telephone". You can set up the fax to answer automatically after "X" number of rings.
