Rated 3.3 out of 5by 43 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5by It pays to read directions...and reviews!!! After several weeks of not being able to comfortably sit at my computer at home for more than a short session, I'm so happy to be typing this in my new chair! I've been getting by with a lovely wooden office chair, which looks great but lacks height adjustability, and the rubber rim is cracking off one of the four pairs of the old-school wheels, so that needs to go back to the back room and await a glue session. I fell back to that one...literally, after my Staples chair (which wasn't quite rated as Big/Tal) finally gave up the ghost. I chose that one originally because it had an embroidered USC on the headrest, and it seemed to be rated for my weight, but sometime last year the piston failed, and eventually the plastic arm structure that connects the seat to the back split. (Note to self: discourage my beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog from hopping up and tilting this chair back to show his affection). All that is to say that the design of this one is key...specifically the metal plate for the attachment. And you think these arms are hard to attach? At least the back/seat were already connected, though I re-read the part about not tightening the screws AFTER I had already done so. #Note: this only applies to Step 3, the others say to tighten as you go#. As luck would have it, things were pretty well aligned, but the 'short screws' issue popped up. (I think the manufacturer would prefer to spin the screws as having tight tolerances...). So, while I sat on the floor with my new chair cradled on me as I tried to get them threaded, I learned eventually the same lesson that an earlier reviewer pointed out: Pull back the vinyl around the protrusion where the nut/washer assembly is imbedded, and nest the inside hole of the wood onto it before inserting the screw. Then, all will be fine. (I just wish I would have read that review would have saved me a half-hour or two...). So, everything is together, and working well. And I know in advance that I need to make notes of the tips for ordering a replacement gas cylinder, since this one will likely need to be replaced in time. Good luck folks! May 18, 2015
