HP 940, Cyan/Magenta Printhead (C4901A) 4.2 5 39 39
Excellent Product Installed and worked with no issues unlike a discount store selling them claiming to be Genuine HP July 2, 2014
Expensive - but good product In having to replace print heads, the HP products are a good choice. Shipping was timely and HP was responsive. June 16, 2014
It is still printing out proofs of the colors 3 pages of the same stuff. The machine won't quit printing out proofs of colors. The last two print heads (black/yellow and Magenta/cyan) did not work, I had to replace..and now the machine keeps printing out proofs of colors. May 26, 2014
A necessary evil I've had this product for a few years - long enough for it to be out of warranty. The printheads show that they have plenty of life left in them, however, the print quality had started to deteriorate. After running through all of the diagnostics (which require wasting ink) it was suggested that I replace the printheads. It turns out that it costs as much to replace the two printheads as it does to get the next generation printer at the local reseller. I figured that I didn't want to reconfigure my entire printer set up so I purchased the two printheads and I am back in business. Next time - new printer. May 8, 2014

Answer:
Poor or no color, "Printer Alignment Failed". Printer may not work at all. If one Printhead fails the other will be close behind ... might as well change them both at one time. If you never print in color (Black only) you save some money.

Answer:
When your printer will not output the proper colors even when your printer has gone through and 'cleaned' so to speak, the printhead, and when the ink shows a good level on your chart.

The printhead is where your inks actually get distributed. Also, the heads look like they are on the opposite side-color coding wise- of the cartridges --for some reason they do that. Don't worry, just change them one at a time and you won't get them mixed up. There is a little handle on the head that makes it easy to remove.

Answer:
When the black or yellow print OR the blue or red print quits showing up completely even after "cleaning the printhead" repeatedly, you need to replace the printhead. You have to get them online, they are not in-store products.

Answer:
Cartridges and printheads are two very different components. Printheads are a component that contains the nozzle of the printer. This nozzle squirts the ink from the ink cartridge onto the paper. The Printer will usually let you know when you need to change the cartridge or the printhead.
