I had been looking for a printer stand for a small space. What I found in this was a lot more - additional storage, hidden space for my modem, and a very good look. It did take me about 4 hours total to put this together but the directions were well written. At least one hour was just laying out the pieces and making sure that I had everything. It was packed very well but there still was a slight crack in the underside of the bottom panel - not enough to send back, though. The biggest problem was putting the long door on. Wish the hinge had been attached to the side wall first. If you purchase this, see if it would work to put the hinges on the side wall first. That should save about 30 minutes and loads of frustration. Other than that, the unit was far superior to any other I saw online or in stores and except for the door issue, I would have given it 5 stars.

I purchased this item to house my printer and computer tower. I couldn't have been more surprised at what I received. It is a heavy well put together piece of furniture. My tower fits in the tall side door (I did leave the door off for air flow around the tower), The slots built in to contain and manage all the cords associated with a computer were excellently placed. It was fairly simple to put together - the instructions have a lot of steps but they are well laid out and the hardware is broken out by step. NICE TOUCH! This piece could easily be the only desk in a small space.

Was able to conceal computer tower and most of cables and use as printer stand and additional file storage. Depth of cabinet was a little short for tower was unable to close door, therefor removed door to accommodate.

While it cannot be considered "fine" furniture, for the price it is of reasonable quality and the functional aspect of the different compartments provide for a little bit of everything.
I put everything together, had a small problem with one of the ball-bearing guides on the bottom file-hanger drawer (I ended up getting a replacement, which I had no problem doing). I am a bit concerned with the amount/weight of hanging folders I will be able to store, time will tell if that part holds up.
The top drawer is small, but sufficient for pens, post-its, ink cartridges, etc..not a lot, but convenient next to a desk area for frequently used items.
The tower space was a bit small for my mid-size tower which comes to the very end of the cabinet. I was not intending to install the door anyway, as I wanted unhindered access to the DVD drive and front USB ports, so for my purposes it actually fits perfectly and the black computer front fits well with the overall cabinet look.
The cable management is acceptable, but I also opened up the area behind the file drawer to store a multi-plug surge power strip extension to further minimize the necessity to run external power cords. I had to cut a hole in the back of the shelf, and it works out very well.
I also cut an additional section out of the removable backing as I needed the space to allow for the rear external USB, HDMI, Ethernet connectors from my computer.
I put together the "charging tray" but I don't have an intention to use it, as it takes up space that I want for my external USB back-up drives and other computer related items. It is a simple design, but would provide a place to set/charge use/phone devices and keep the cabling out of site. If you didn't want the space for other things, this feature might be of use.
The top is large enough for a nice sized all-in-one printer/scanner, an Internet Router, a home phone, possibly a decorative item, etc.
For assembly, there were a lot of pieces, but the bagged hardware was EXCELLENT, individually bagged by assembly steps. It did take a couple hours, especially with my additional modifications (which necessitated drilling etc), but the base kit and instructions were well laid out and easy to follow and could readily be managed with hand tools and the provided hardware.
The on-line item detail information did not include any internal dimensions, which, in the case of the tower compartment, was of particular interest to me. It took multiple calls/emails to Office Depot to get the information. To ease that for the next potential buyer, here are some additional dimensions (which I measured), in inches.
top drawer space(w.d.h):8.25x15x5
open area below sliding pullout shelf(w.d.h):17x19.5x10
shelf within the open area(l.w):17x9
sliding pull out shelf(l.w):16.5x11.5
space above pull-out shelf:~ 3 inches
The "half" shelf is removable, the sliding shelf does not have to be installed if not desired.
Overall, it provides enough space to store a variety of computer needs and home files. It's functional and looks like the photo (a dark "chocolate" color, not black but close enough to compliment a desk that has a black top or accents).
I would recommend this item, just know that it is pretty much all pressed wood with an average laminate finish. If you expect a perfect "finish" or are one to be nit-picky about a little imperfection, then this might not be for you.
