Tripp Lite SU20KRTHW 20,000VA / 20kVA / 18,000 watt online, double-conversion UPS system offers complete power protection for critical server, network and telecommunications equipment in a 12U rack/tower configuration. This system delivers complete N+1 redundancy when used at loads up to 10kVA, and non-redundant operation at loads between 10 and 20kVA. Fault-tolerant auto-bypass prevents unexpected service interruptions during UPS overload or internal fault conditions. Included parallel PDU with manual bypass switching enables hot-swappable replacement of all major UPS system components in both N+1 and combined operating modes. Enhanced availability, fault tolerance and simple hot-swap replacement options make this UPS ideal for advanced networking applications in data centers, computer rooms, network closets and rugged industrial locations.

SmartOnline 20kVA UPS with Expandable Battery Backup and N+1 Redundancy for Mission-Critical Equipment
Tripp Lite's SU20KRTHW
SmartOnline® Double-Conversion UPS System protects connected equipment against
data loss, downtime and equipment damage due to power outages, voltage fluctuations
and transient surges. Its 12U form factor includes two 3U UPS power modules,
two 3U external battery packs and a PDU
with bypass switch. It has a 3-wire hardwire input and output. The SU20KRTHW
has a 20,000VA/18,000W
output capacity and N+1 redundancy at loads up to 10kVA. It provides pure sine
wave output at all times, even when operating from battery.
The SU20KRTHW actively converts raw incoming AC power to DC and then re-converts it back to regulated, filtered AC output with a pure sine wave, completely isolating connected components from all power problems. Pure sine wave power is required for devices with active PFC power supplies and can prevent poor performance of other types of sensitive equipment. The SU20KRTHW’s selectable output voltage provides regulated nominal 200/208/220/230/240V AC output to connected components and is compatible with both 50 Hz and 60 Hz frequencies. It corrects undervoltages as low as 100V and overvoltages as high as 300V.
UPS battery backup keeps connected equipment operational through short power failures, and it provides sufficient time to save data and perform an orderly system shutdown in case of a prolonged blackout. The SU20KRTHW's battery set provides 12.5 minutes of battery support for a half load (9000 watts) and 4.3 minutes of support for a full load (18,000 watts). Runtime is expandable with optional external battery packs (Tripp Lite model BP240V10RT3U, BP240V557C-1PH, BP240V787C-1PH, BP240V1037C-1PH or BP240V1407C-1PH), sold separately. The external battery packs are hot-swappable and can be replaced without disruption to connected equipment.
The SU20KRTHW has a bypass switch, a modular design and automatic N+1 redundancy at loads up to 10,000VA to provide continuous availability. When the bypass switch is activated, a power module can be removed for maintenance, repair or replacement while the PDU remains connected to the AC power source and your equipment, providing power as long as utility power is present. At loads up to 10,000VA, a power module can be hot-swapped (with the load powered) if maintenance is required.
Highly Efficient Operation Reduces BTU Output and Energy Costs
The SU20KRTHW features an optional, highly efficient economy mode setting that can significantly reduce a facility's energy costs. In economy mode, the UPS operates with up to 96% efficiency, minimizing heat output, reducing cooling requirements and consuming less electricity.
Each power module has a front-panel LCD screen with LED indicators to allow IT personnel to monitor the unit’s operating mode and pertinent data such as load percentages, power factor, input and output volts and battery charge. The display rotates for viewing in rack and tower configurations. An audible alarm signals power failure, low battery, overload and fault conditions.
Surge Protection and EMI/RFI Line Noise Filtering
The SU20KRTHW’s network-grade surge protection instantaneously safeguards connected components and data from the harmful effects of power surges. Various electrical and radio sources can cause disruptive interference on the AC line, which commonly results in incremental hardware damage, data corruption and performance problems. By providing regulated, filtered, pure sine wave AC output, the SU20KRTHW completely isolates connected equipment from line noise.
The SU20KRTHW has two USB ports and two RS-232 (DB9 serial) ports (cables included) to provide comprehensive network power monitoring and control when used with Tripp Lite's included PowerAlert software. Capabilities include UPS and line power status messaging (on-battery, low battery, power restored, AC line voltage, DC battery voltage and remaining battery capacity), timed inverter shutoff after unattended shutdown, and UPS output power control for reboot of connected devices. Each power module accepts an optional SNMPWEBCARD accessory that enables the UPS to operate as a managed device on the network. They also accept a RELAYIOCARD or RELAYIOMINI interface module for hard contact closure outputs for custom event notification.
Emergency Power-Off (EPO) Capability
An Emergency Power-Off (EPO) interface port supports emergency shutoff in large facilities.
The SU20KRTHW requires 12U of rack space in a standard 4-post rack enclosure (mounting accessories included). It can also be installed in a 2-post rack using four optional 2POSTRMKITHD accessories, or in an upright tower configuration using two optional 2-9USTAND accessories.
2-Year Warranty, $250k Ultimate Lifetime Insurance and Environmentally Responsible Design
The SU20KRTHW comes with a 2-year warranty and $250,000 of Ultimate Lifetime Insurance for any connected components damaged by a power surge (U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico only). As part of Tripp Lite’s commitment to environmental responsibility, this UPS is manufactured in compliance with strict RoHS specifications.
