Energizer� Basic Charger
I bought it.
It wont charge the batteries.
The light has been red for 15 hours.
I am not happy at all with this product.

Flashes green with several pairs of batteries. None of "Energizer's" solutions apply to these batteries (they are new, of same brand, same specs etc). Had a similar problem with other batteries.

Energizer Value Charger is No Value
The Energizer Value Charger is No Value based on my personal experience. The batteries that came with the charger worked the first time they were charged, but after only a couple of very brief recharged usage times, the "Value" Charger would not recharge the batteries at all. The red light would come on when the batteries were inserted. After a while, the green light would come on, but when the batteries were removed for usage, they were not charged. I have used Energizer products for many years. I am very disappointed with this product and surprised that Energizer would sell it on the market. What has happened to the concept of the "Energizer Bunny"?

Calling customer service gets results
We started using this charger and a "Smart Charger" about six months ago. The "Smart Charger" stopped working after about three or four uses and we stuck it in a drawer out of frustration--no original packaging so thought we were out of luck. Then yesterday this "Value Charger" started flashing red instead of charging. A Google search turned up many complaints about this problem on this page. Each one was answered by Energizer with a phone number to call for help. I called this morning and spoke with a very friendly and patient representative, who talked me through cleaning the terminals with a pencil eraser. Set that charger back in the outlet and it stayed on red, presumably charging.
We moved on to the other charger and when I described the problem (flashed "8 hours" and then went dead) she immediately said it was defective. She took my address and is sending a prepaid mailing label so I can send it in for repair or replacement.
This very long comment is all to say that while I was frustrated initially with the defective performance of both chargers, I was very pleased with the customer service response. Don't hesitate to call the number given. It really works.
