TOP NOTCH QUALITY AND APPEARANCE! I cannot believe how great of a price we got on this desk! I would expect to pay something upwards of $500+ for this desk. Yes, it is particle board construction; however, the laminate work and overall appearance of this desk makes it very hard to tell the difference! We got the woodgrain version of this desk and we are thoroughly happy with our purchase. The desk took about 2 hours to put together, but it was well worth the time! Everyone who sees this desk loves it...and I cannot believe we only paid $152 for this desk! (After using a $15 off coupon on the sale price) April 11, 2008
If it was easy, I would return I'm pretty handy but it took me forever to put the desk together. I probably spent 4 hours. It is made of cheap material and one of the legs (side) has really poor support. You could never move this desk to a new place without it falling apart. I got it together and hopefully it will hold up for my granddaughters use. When it is time to move, one swift kick and I will be able to pick up the pieces and throw in the trash. August 25, 2014
Shore Mini Solutions Computer Desk w/Hutch Fortunately, all of the pieces were in the box. Thought it might take an hour or two to put together, took a handy person 2 1/2 hours, but if a person was doing 2 or 3 of these per day, it would probably take them an hour. I looked around at several places, in store and on-line and all in all, this desk is very nice looking and the best value for the money. August 25, 2014
Lovely Desk, Nice Price, But... I fell in love with this desk the minute I saw it. A year after I bought it, I sold it on craigslist: I hated the "CPU oven." This is the box designed to hold a hard drive. These were never a good idea, because they trap the heat and your hard drive dies an early death. I can see some making a desk in this style 10 years ago, but today??? If someone who makes office furniture doesn't know these boxes are a bad idea, they are not doing their homework. And then there is the small fact that hard drives are disappearing from the computer scene. So why, why, why? Of course, if you still own a hard drive, you can always put it somewhere else, but this box is poorly sized for many other types of otherwise better uses. I also hated the fact that it just hangs there, instead of going all the way to the floor. But MOST OF ALL, I hated the fact that they made it integral to the desk. If I could have simply removed it, I'd still have this desk and be very happy with it. The price is great because it is made of laminate. This means it weighs a ton, and I'm sick of heavy furniture that plunks itself down in your house and dares you to make it move an inch. I would rather have paid more for actual #lighter# wood. The "beadboard" in the back is one of those folded flimsy fiberboard things you have to attach with a million small nails to get it to flatten out. If you ever try to move the desk, the back will give you a headache, since it's flimsy and easy to damage. The beadbard back has two perforated squares. My computer guy thought it was so you could hang your monitor on the wall behind the desk. Seriously? People really do that? OK, if you say so, but I would guess most don't do that, in which case, they are not going to want to punch out a big rectangle in the back of the hutch. Problem is, even if you don't punch them out, the perforations are visible and unattractive. All that said, it's still one of the most attractive desks I've ever seen, and wonderful for home use. I'm planning to get one custom made, of real wood, slightly less wide, with a slightly taller hutch, and NO CPU OVEN!!! July 3, 2014
