Rated 1 out of 5by TERRIBLE!!!!!! Don't waste your money!!!! If I could I would rate this less than 1 star!!! I bought this for a project I had limited time to complete ... I too have wasted hours trying to peel the protective layer off. It will not come off, and I am not talking at the beginning of the roll...I am talking even several pieces later I can peel this stuff! AND to make it even harder they have a clear cover paper over clear tape ... you can't even see what you are trying to peel apart! This is awful! I need to go to the store again and buy something else! And I thought Scotch was a GOOD BRAND!!!! January 16, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5by Cannot remove backing film. I cannot remove the backing film to expose the sticky side. I have used the 'red' double sided for years but this this product does not work. The backing film is too thin to pick up. This was $3.24 at Walmart. January 4, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5by Difficult to use I bought this as a replacement for two-sided scrapbooking tape which I couldn't locate. I found this difficult to position on a photo and then put in a photo album. The tape sticks to your fingers while you are placing one side on the photo and then when you place in album, some of the adhesive has come off on your fingers and doesn't adhere well to the album page. I prefer the scrapbooking tape, you put one adhesive side on photo and then peel off the protective tape on the second side for perfect positioning. Will not buy this product again. December 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5by Double sided tape This is the best invention ever! I have been crafting for years and have used it consistently; there was one time when it was not in stock so I bought another brand. What a bad idea! It was thick and "clunky" to use. I will shop around/wait until Scotch tape is available and then buy lots of it! December 4, 2014

I would like to archive my photographs and papers, and would like to know if this product is free from acid. I would like to use it to seal encapsulation with mylar. Is it safe?
Thank you,

Answer:
Thanks for asking! The Scotch Permanent Double - Sided Tape - Item# 909955 is not an acid free tape. It is a Photo Safe product, which means that it has passed the industry standard Photographic Activity Test. The test uses fading, spotting or staining detectors to evaluate whether enclosure materials, inks and adhesives are safe to use with silver photographic images. As of 1997, the test is done on negatives, as well as the fronts and backs of both color and black & white photographic prints. Products which pass this test will not damage or change the image on negatives or photographic prints. 3M has this testing performed by an independent laboratory.
