APC Back-UPS ES 550 Battery Backup, BE550G, 550VA/330 Watt 4.6 5 139 152
Works great I use this battery for my 82" TV. We have lots of power interruptions in Florida and this battery keeps the TV running. August 15, 2014
Works as promised This is not a glamorous product - it just sits there under my desk doing its job. But it does its job. I live in an area with lots of lightning storms, sometimes with short power outages, and that is what this product is for. I have not had damage to any equipment that was plugged into this product, and in terms of battery backup, I often realize that there was a very short power outage due to the beep from the UPS rather than from lights blinking or the like - in other words, it response very quickly. Of course it is a "550" with limits on its UPS capabilities, but I got what I paid for and more. It is what I needed. I am very pleased. August 11, 2014
Dependable and Affordable I've been using APC products for many years. Since I traded in the prior unit for the current model, there haven't been any blackouts or monster power surges but I expect it will eventually save my bacon as its predecessors have. August 4, 2014
Great low cost option Have five of these installed. Perfect compromise between high end coverage (often over-kill) and cheap surge suppressors. Trust APC, love their trade-in process. Keep up the good work! July 18, 2014

When the power goes out your stove will keep running. It gives you time to shut down your appliance correctly.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. Although we do not manufacture UPS units specifically for pellet stoves, we recommend using a Smart-UPS with these stoves instead of a Back-UPS. Smart-UPS provide a pure sine wave while on battery power, which is something typically required by non-computer type loads.

Hello. Thank you for your question. Runtime will depend on how much electricity the computer is using during the outage. For example, if your computer draws 200W, you'll get around nine minutes of runtime.

Because it is being used. It beeps to tell you that its backup battery is in use and so you can get started with shutting things down before the backup goes completely empty.

Answer:
Van,

When there is a power outage the BE550G will switch to battery power. When the unit switches to battery power it starts to beep to warn you that it in fact is using the internal battery to power your equipment. This serves as a warning to users in case it is not obvious that the power has gone out.

The beeping serves as a way to warn and remind users that the unit is on battery so they can safely save and shutdown anything that they may be working on.

Thank You.

This unit does have an automatic unattended shutdown feature but it will not save your work for you. We recommend putting your computer into a hibernate default setting so upon reboot all your work will still be open

We have only had the battery backup for a few months and it's hardly making that beeping sound which means it's time a for a new one. On the box it says 3 year warranty so what exactly does this mean? Do we need someone to come look at it? Do we go to the nearest Office Depot and have it checked out?

We currently have several of these battery backups in our office, however, some only have two outlets that our computer equipment will plug into even though there are eight outlets. Can you advise which product we should purchase that will have all eight outlets with the larger prong openings that will accommodate computer equipment?

For VOIP applications you will need to use a Smart UPS on-line UPS. The runtime will be dependent on the watt load being used as a percentage of the capacity of the UPS.
