Realspace Coastal Ridge Writing Desk, 31 1/8H x 42W x 24 1/2D, Mahogany/Black Glass
Best Purchase Ever
I recently purchased the Realspace Writing Desk, after reading the reviews. I found no problems with this purchase. The wood looks good and the desk is very sturdy. I expect many years of service. The assembly took about two hours, and all parts was included, the alignment is very good. The drawer rolls well and fits flush along the edges. This is a thumbs up product.

Just what I needed!
After reading the reviews I was skeptical about buying this desk but it was exactly what I needed. Assembly was easy - just look at the pictures and match up the bag of parts! I would recommend a helper but started the assembly myself using props - it went much easier when my husband got home to help holding items in position. I read so many bad reviews that I was leary of this but glad I bought it! Took about 2 hours but I could put the next one together in an hour.

Looks great, but a nightmare to assemble
The desk looks great and, unlike with others who reviewed this, the glass fit without a problem onto the desk top. I did the assembly alone for the majority of the desk, which was cumbersome, but doable. However, the drawer required the help and ingenuity of a friend and myself working in tandem and we eventually had to settle on a "good enough" solution. The assembly directions have pictures with almost no text, making them difficult to follow at times. A couple of tips: separate out the parts of the sliding mechanism using a non-obvious clip like mechanism. When you squeeze it, the parts will separate. Once the outer arms are attached to the desk and the inner arms to the drawer, the drawer should slide in, in theory. This never happened for us, so we had to remove one side from the drawer, slide in the other, slide in the unattached inner arm on the other side, and slide out the half-attached desk drawer and do our best to screw the free-standing inner arm to the other side of the drawer. Another tip: you have three options for screw placement of the inner arm of the sliding mechanism on the desk. If you use the horizontal one, the desk will protrude slightly once assembled. Using one of the other options will take care of this, but then, when the front panel of the drawer is open, the sliding mechanism will jut out on both sides. Pick your poison.
