Realspace PRO 3000 Series Ergonomic Custom Fit Fabric Mid-Back Chair, Black/Black 4.1 5 27 27
What a piece of JUNK! The chair was used less than two hours when the armrest screws stripped out. These are not repairable. The chair was listed on the Office Depot website as a drafting chair/stool. The maximum seat height is 40.5 inches. The seat and tilt adjustments do not stay in their locked positions. Over priced for such a poorly made chair. Our company would NOT reccommend! June 26, 2014
Great chair for petite people! I had to purchase a chair with very specific ergonomic specifications for my job, and this chair fit all of those needs. I am only 5'3", and this chair has a short depth in the seat so that there are a couple of centimeters between the seat and my knees, and it goes low enough to the ground for my feet to touch the floor. It is also very supportive of my back. Everything about this chair is customizable, and the seat has the right amount of cushion for sitting at a desk 8 hours a day. Set up was very straight forward and the manual was easy to understand- it only took about 15-20 minutes by myself. It even came with extra parts just in case. All in all, I am very impressed with the chair, it's great for shorties like me that sit at a computer all day, and it wasn't too difficult to put together! June 7, 2014
Junk After spending 45 minutes purring this together back split. Customer service told me there are issues with this item and I should return and buy something else. Huge hassle returning, once together it does not come apart to go back in box. Will never shop from this company ever again. March 26, 2014
I have been looking for a chair like that! I had an expensive Aeron mesh chair before the tilt broke. I found it very hard on your rear and the back not very supportive after all the gimmicks. This chair with a much smaller footprint is everything I have been looking for. Unlike an Aeron you can tilt the seat as well as the back and as a result it supports your legs well which is very important as your feet do not have to bear the weight of your legs on the floor. Also it goes a little bit higher than normal and can do almost double duty with a 34" tall counter table. Also you can raise the arms for better support and move the arms forward if you care. You can move up and down the back. I am planning of buying several more. Their 3000 Pro drafting chair is great too with the same adjustments but no arms. I wish it had arms too. March 23, 2014

Answer:
You have to sit in the chair in order to drop the height while pulling the lever on the right side beneath the chair. The weight assists you in dropping it as the lever releases.

The first lever(the one closest to the front of the chair) controls the tilt lock. Down will let the chair tilt freely and up will lock the chair in place. The product assembly instructions are also available directly on the item page on OfficeDepot.com, Item# 996190

For further assistance please contact us at 1-800-949-9974.

To remove the 5 star base:

1. To remove the five star base from the gas lift, turn the chair upside down. There are about one to two inches where the gas lift sticks through the five star base.
2. Use a hammer to hit the edge or rim of the gas lift while pulling out the five star base. Avoid hitting the metal clip in the center of the gas lift, as it will release the pressure needed in order to raise or lower your chair. The more you hit the gas lift, the more pressure will be released. After several taps, it will come right out.

To remove the gas lift:

1. To remove the gas lift from the seat plate, keep the chair upside down.
2. Use a hammer to hit around the area where the gas lift fits inside the seat plate while pulling out the gas lift. These two items are locked together by pressure; the more you hit the seat plate and pull on the gas lift simultaneously, the more pressure will be released. Eventually the two items will separate.

To remove the seat plate:

Use the allen wrench that came with the chair to unscrew the seat plate from the seat cushion. Make sure to keep the black plastic spacer attached to the seat cushion.
