How Much Power Do You Need?
Each UPS is rated to provide a certain amount of power output, which can affect the number of computers that you can attach to it. Before deciding on a UPS, think about the number of computers that you need to safeguard. If you only have a handful of devices that you need to connect, you might not need a UPS with high-end output. You should also think about the type of computers that will be attached. Standard laptop and desktop computers don't have a huge amount of drain compared to higher-end servers, so if you're only attaching two or three desktop and laptop computers, a huge amount of output probably isn't necessary.
What's the Battery Life?
A critical feature in a UPS is the amount of battery life that it provides for you in case of a power outage. The amount that you need is heavily dependant upon what the computers you're connecting are used for. If they're used for normal, everyday projects, a UPS with several minutes of power could be enough for you to save your work and power down in the normal manner, so you can avoid losing information. On the other hand, if the computers are being used for critical processes, you should think about a higher amount of battery life that will keep them running until you can find alternate power sources.
