Sharon Lee Avent, President and CEO
Since the founding of Smead in 1906, our mission has been to provide the highest quality product with the best possible service. From a small one room, second floor operation with six employees in Hastings, Minnesota, Smead has grown to six production facilities in the United States, including Cedar City, Utah - Hastings, Minnesota - Logan Ohio, - Locust Grove, Georgia, - McGregor, Texas - River Falls, Wisconsin. Smead employs nearly 2500 people. The company's annual revenues exceed $400 million.
From a small midwestern town to locations across the United States to a worldwide presence, Smead continues to grow as consumer needs change. With the 1998 acquisition of Atlanta Hoogezand BV in the Netherlands, we expanded our presence into the European market and beyond. The nearly 400 committed associates of Atlanta share the same vision of Smead employees - to make a quality product line that fills office needs no matter where our customers are. Together, Smead and Atlanta have the filing and document management products and expertise to keep the world organized.
Throughout the years, beginning with the Bandless file and leading to Smeadlink software and the VIEWables products, innovation has been the cornerstone of our success. Smead manufactures and distributes nearly 2000 products to meet the demands of business, no matter where that business takes place. Combined with the nearly 3000 plus products in the Atlanta portfolio, Smead offers the widest global range of filing products in the industry. Over 400 Smead items are currently supported by Office Depot, with many more available for fast delivery.
Now in our fifth decade of woman ownership, Smead is poised for continued success. In 1998, the late Mrs. E.C. Hoffman turned leadership over to her daughter, Sharon Lee Avent the current President and CEO of Smead. The Smead mission remains the same - quality, service, and innovation - to keep the world organized.
