Staedtler® Mars® Lead Pointer is rated out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Jooo from Good Lead Pointer Works very well. People complain of lack of instructions and being confused on how to use these. I found it pretty simple, honestly. Minus a star because it only works with certain staedtler lead holders and select other brands that fit in the opening and also because it is made in China. The one in the product picture appears to be the German manufactured model from its appearance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MarkM from Disapointed The product in the main photo of the listing above clearly shows the body of the made in Germany version of this product, which has steps molded into the ridges on the side of the body. The product I received, transferred in from another store, is made in china and has smooth ridges running down the body. I wanted the German product as pictured.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tony from Great Sharpener, Great Price Seriously, you can spend a lot more money on a 2mm lead pointer, but they don't do the job better one than this one. Sure, this pointer is hand held and not desk mountable, but you might consider that an advantage -- I do. It is small, but easy to hold, and easy to store in a drawer out of the way, or in the pencil rail of your drafting table. I bought it for price reasons, and like it a lot more than I thought I would. I use it all the time, and my big space-hog pointers have now been retired. I can't really say anything about it's durability yet, but it has a metal cutter inside, the same as another one I have that costs 5 or 6 times more, and I can't see why the whole thing wouldn't last just as long as some others I've had. It would be very difficult to break this thing by any kind of mis-handling. You'd pretty much have to run over it with a truck, or throw it into a fire to hurt it.
