Great Starter Set
Stir-It-Up Chemistry Lab & Kitchen Experiments Journal is a set that includes test tubes, measuring devices, safety glasses and a journal. There is even a test tube stand included because no scientist should be without a test tube stand! There are activities in the journal that mention an ADULT is required but there are activities as well that kids can do on their own. The activities that require an adult would make a great bonding exercise and teaching experience. You will also need various items/ingredients for the experiments but they all seem pretty standard. There are plenty of spots in the journal to jot down conclusions and questions just like a real scientist would. After your child completed all the experiments in the journal they can then download more experiments to check out or come up with their own! This is a perfect set for any child who loves science or if you want a product to spark some interest in science! I received this product to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

You are going to love this chemistry set!!!!!!!!!
I got the Nancy B's Science Club Stir-It-Up Chemistry Lab & Kitchen Experiments Journal for my curious first grader who loves science. Despite the purple and teal color scheme that looks more appealing to girls, he was dying to try it. The lab equipment appears to be made of plastic without any sharp edges. A 22-page journal is also included. It would be nice if a storage case or reusable bag was included for the equipment. The clear and concise journal is a great addition. The beginning of the book explains what chemists do and the purpose of the equipment. It goes on to define common vocabulary used in chemistry. User tips, fun facts, and several experiments are also included. The explanations are straightforward, perfect for young children. Many parents may not have the time, knowledge, or inclination to explain chemistry to their children and create experiments for them. No worries, it's already been done for you. This is a great resource to teach children experimentation, the art of observation, and how to document their findings through pictures and words. We performed the "Dancing Waters" experiment which demonstrates how temperature affects density. It was a quick, fun activity that he really enjoyed. Other than the equipment from the box, the only other supplies needed were food coloring, water, and a microwave oven. Some of the experiments require items that you probably have in your pantry, while others need items that you can find at the store, but may not necessarily have at home. This is an interesting and fun introduction to chemistry and the scientific method for young children. My son enjoyed it, and said it's now his new favorite toy. (Previously, his favorite toy was the Nancy B's Science Club Microscope and Activity Journal.) He said, "If you try this chemistry set, you are going to love it!!!!!!!!!" (He said I needed to put nine exclamation points in the review.) We received this product in exchange for an honest review.
