Rated 5 out of 5 by Christopher Pizzano from Timeless classic fits on ANY table - 5 User Tips I have bought 6 of these table edge-style clamp-on lamps for a U-shaped desk setup in my home office in dark brown. EZ to clean and they stay put after you set them. A bonus with this clamp-on version over the weighted-base version is that the light sits higher above the work so there's more room for adjustability. Here are a few extra tips to get the MOST out of your task lamp: (a) POWER: Use a single dimmer on-off switch for all the lamps on your desk -- do NOT use each lamp's mechanical on-off switch. 10 years of experience with this style lamp says that is the best way to make them LAST. A minor detail: the starter bulb included with your new lamp will not be dimmable, so read my 3 bulb rules below... (b) BULB RULE 1 of 3: Apply a dab of electrical grease to the threads & tip of every bulb to keep the socket smooth and cool. Then be gentle screwing them in and NEVER use bigger than a 40 watt traditional bulb. (c) BULB RULE 2 of 3: For traditional bulbs, only use CLEAR which is the same as "bright white" (3000-3200 kelvin color) and never "soft-white" (2700 kelvin color) bulbs. There is appreciable reduction in fatigue factor with clears. (d) BULB RULE 3 of 3: For LED bulbs, do NOT use "daylight white" (5000+ kelvin color). These fatigue even worse than the 2700 kelvins do. Instead, always get them in the "bright" to "neutral" 3000-3500 kelvin color; and be sure they say "dimmable" on the box. Finally, I use either 25w traditional clears -- or the Philips PAR16 5.5w 3000k LED flood beam dimmables (and there might be a spot beam version too, TBD) with excellent results.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Faye from It works okay The light is okay in an emergency, which this was. But, it does not come forward enough to shine where we need it most. It may work fine on other desks; but not on our work area. The price was right, for sure! When stores open, we will go in and get one with a longer or stretchable arm. Recommendation would depend on how desk area is set up.
